Arewa Youth Groups Rally Behind Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu for Ministerial Appointment

Published

A coalition of youth organizations under the banner of Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. This appeal was made following an emergency meeting of the association’s North West branch held in Kano on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

According to Balarabe Abdullahi Jega, Zonal Coordinator for the North West, the meeting was convened in response to the recent appointment of Mr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), thereby leaving the ministerial position vacant.

In the communiqué released after the meeting, the youth groups emphasized the significant political support President Tinubu received from the North West zone, particularly Kano State, which reportedly delivered the highest number of votes in the 2023 general elections. “Our zone has remained a stronghold of APC, and it is only fitting that Kano be considered for this strategic appointment,” said Jega.

The statement also praised Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu, highlighting his exceptional commitment to youth empowerment and humanitarian causes. “His efforts were recognized recently by the Emir of Daura, who crowned him ‘Adon Garin Kasar Hausa’—The Jewel of Hausa Land,” the youth groups noted. Aminu currently serves on the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, in Yobe State, and was described as a voice for the voiceless youth across Northern Nigeria.

The youth groups stressed Ja’oji’s philanthropic outreach, including scholarships for students within and outside Nigeria. “His loyalty to APC and President Tinubu is unwavering, and his policy alignment is evident in all his initiatives,” Jega explained. The statement also underscored his popularity and credibility among grassroots voters, describing his programs as being rooted in global best practices.

According to the release, Ja’oji’s performance as a council member at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum surpasses that of many serving ministers from Kano. “He exhibits defined capacity and commitment, attributes that make him more than suitable for a ministerial role,” the groups declared.

The youth groups added that Ja’oji enjoys widespread support among party loyalists, youth movements, and women’s advocacy organizations. “His interventions in national integration, youth inclusion, and women’s empowerment resonate throughout the North,” said Jega.

Concluding their appeal, the groups assured President Tinubu that appointing Ja’oji would be met with widespread approval and would contribute positively to the administration’s humanitarian and poverty alleviation agenda. “He has the capacity, political will, and unwavering loyalty required to succeed in this role,” the statement affirmed.
