IJMB 2002 Set Demonstrates Commitment to Members’ Welfare

The IJMB 2002 set held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the Darud Tauhid Event Center, behind Jifatu Departmental Stores, in a joyous and reflective atmosphere. Members from various walks of life gathered to celebrate the association’s achievements and pledge support to the families of deceased members.

The Chairman of the Association, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Abdullahi, highlighted the group’s notable achievements, particularly the financial support of ₦50,000 each to 32 children of deceased members. He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the group over the past year.

In a poignant moment, the association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families of deceased members. The association’s President emphasized the group’s dedication to standing by its own, even in times of grief and loss.

“We will do everything possible to support the families of our deceased members and ensure they are not left behind,” the President said.

The members applauded and appreciated the association’s gesture, visibly moved by the commitment to their welfare.

The President announced the establishment of 8 members of Trustees to serve as an advisory committee for the smooth running of the association.

The IJMB 2002 set has a long history of camaraderie and support. This pledge reinforces the group’s dedication to its members’ well-being.

As the AGM concluded, members departed with a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity, knowing they were part of a community that truly cared for its own.

Censorship organised First Hausa Novels Competition among authors

An author of Bahaushiyar Al’adu, Malam Zubairu Musa Baban Naji has emerged the winner of the first Kano State Censorship Board Hausa Novels Writing Competition organised by the Board in collaboration with the Association of Nigeria Authors (ANA).

The chairman organising committee of the competition, Alhaji Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino announced the outcome of the result in a grand celebration to mark the first historic competition at the presentation and awards ceremony to the winners and participants of the occasion.

He further said the runner up was Danladi Zakariyya Haruna, the author of Gado Gida da horo who came second while a female author, Hauwa Shehu written Bahaushe Mai Arziki took third place to clinch N200, 000, while the winner and his runner ups received N500,000 and N300,000 respectively.

In his welcome address the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji (Dr) Abba Al-Mustapha said the competition amongst the novelists was to revive the reading culture and also to encourage the young writers and improve their wealth talents.

He assured the readiness of the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf to continued its efforts in restructuring the film production and publication of novels towards changing the society according to moral values.

In his remarks, Professor Abdallah Uba Adamu called on the film producers to seize opportunity of utilizing the novels into the scripts writing for films production.

He charged the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Youth and sports and film producer to lead the film producers to sponsor the first ten novels and produce a series of films.

Also speaking Alhaji Sani Danja commended the Executive Secretary of the State Censorship Board Abba Al-Mustapha for his effort to improve the relationships between the members of Kannywood and Authors in the state, adding the two parties have the same goals of educating and entertaining the society as wee as promoting culture and tradition of the Hausa cultural heritage.

Those attended the occasion includes the representative of Commissioner of Tourism and Culture, representative of Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, Executive Secretary History and Culture, Managing Director Kano State Tourism Board, Managing Director Radio Kano as well as Chairman, El Samad, Alhaji Sammani Ahmad and Shehu Hassan Kano.

Kano Civil Society Forum Urges Establishment of People with Disabilities Commission

The Kano civil society forum has urged the state government to expedite action in establishing people with disabilities commission.

At a press conference on Wednesday, president of the forum Muhammad Bello emphasized the importance of establishing the commission in order to ensure inclusiveness and good governance.

Muhammad Bello called the attention of the government to fellow suites with states like Plateau and Yobe states who already established similar commissions.

He commended the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for acknowledging the relevance of people living with disabilities in it’s policies.

According to an estimation by association of people living with disabilities in Kano chapter, there are 43,418 people with disabilities in the state as of 2022″

Muhammad Bello said, establishing the commission will help in acquiring adequate data for the people living with disabilities in the state, for proper budgeting and policy formulation.

He said, non implementation of the commission will create room for abusing their rights and depriving them opportunities to get employment.

Kano State Housing Corporation MD Commends FRSC for Efforts in Reducing Road Accidents

The Managing Director of the Kano State Housing Corporation, Alhaji Abdullahi Rabi’u, has applauded the efforts of the Kano office of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for its strides towards public sensitisation in minimizing road accidents.

The Managing Director made the remark when the Kano State sector commander of the FRSC, Alhaji Umar Mas’ud Matazu, paid him a visit.

He maintained that the work of the Federal Road Safety Commission is a humanitarian service as it deals with saving lives and appreciated the way they render their services, especially with regards to road accidents and clearing traffic congestion.

He then advised the sector commander to intensify efforts on public enlightenment to make the general public understand the importance of obeying driving rules and regulations.

Regarding the lingering issue of the Kano command office at Bandirawo estate, the managing director pledged to immediately address the issue.

Earlier, the Kano State sector commander of the FRSC, Alhaji Umar Mas’ud Matazu, revealed that his visit was part of his familiarisation tour to stakeholder agencies to seek their support and cooperation for optimum and better operation.

The sector commander noted the long-existing cordial relationship between the Housing Corporation and the Kano office of the FRSC and called for the renewal of the relationship. He revealed that plans are underway by the command to open offices across the geopolitical zones of the state to enhance their operations.

He further disclosed that the command would soon embark on an enlightenment campaign involving various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, the National Association of Road Transport Owners, NDLEA, KAROTA, and motorists, on the dangers of reckless driving and violation of its rules.

The sector commander commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for being very supportive to the command and pledged to work hand-in-hand with any organisation that would improve their services.

He later appealed to the Managing Director for an allocation of an official residence for the state sector commander of the commission.
