 Mass Media NG, honours BUK’s first female Professor of Mass Communication, 10 Others

Mass Media NG an International organisation that focuses on Media research, scholarly works and others have honoured Bayero University’s first female Professor of Mass Communications and 9 others from across Nigeria.

 

Mass Media NG celebrated Professor Hajara Umar Sanda in the chronology of Nigerian Female communications Professors at this year’s award with the theme Women’s equality Day 2020.

 

Among the 10 professors chosen by Mass Media NG Prof Hajara’s citation was the first to be read.

 

Others who were honoured include the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna, from the University of Nigeria Nsuka , a re-known female Professor in Public relations Victoria Ajala, and another First Female Professor of Mass Communications from the University of Lagos Professor Abigail.

All the Professors honoured on women equality day 2020 by Mass Media NG are 10 female communication Professors from Nigerian Universities and Professor Hajara of BUK is the only Muslim Northerner among them.

 

Prof Hajara Umar Sanda holds a PhD, MA and BA in Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano (BUK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

 

 

She was a Fulbright visiting scholar at Ohio University Athens, the USA from 2011 to 2012.

 

 

As an Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, she was the pioneering Sub Dean Academics in the Faculty of Communication BUK in 2016 and former Deputy Dean Students’ Affairs, Bayero University Kano from 2016 to 2020.

 

 

 

Professor Hajara Umar Sanda has participated in various conferences and workshops among which include the Global Investigative Journalism Conference at Johannesburg, South Africa in 2017, Oxonia International Conference, Oxford – the UK in 2015, International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) at India in 2014, and the International Facilitators Development Workshop for Active Citizens Project at British Council UK, London in 2014.

 

 

 

Her research interests include Writing for Mass Media, Specialized Reporting, Print Journalism, Health Communication, Investigative & Data-Driven Journalism, Public Relations, Gender studies, and Entrepreneurial studies among others.

 

 

She has published two books and numerous articles in Journals and Book chapters.

 

 

Her organizational membership include Fulbright Association of Nigeria (FAN), International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), African Council of Communication Education (ACCE), Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) and member Association of Entrepreneurship Educators of Nigeria

Sultan of Sokoto Urges Nigerians to Stop Criticizing Leaders and Allow God to Deal With Them

Nigerians have been urged to desist from castigating their leaders and all those in authority.

This call was made to Nigerians by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III on Monday at the the Regional Conference on Climate Change-Induced Conflicts in Northern Nigeria hosted in Kaduna.

According to the Sultan, it is important that Nigerians rather than insult their leaders, they should allow God to really with them.

He also urgee Nigerians to contibue praying for their keaders and tne nation as a whole.

He further called on religious leadera accros Nigeria to quit misleadinh members of ghwir congregation.

“A lot of people say we have never had it so bad, but no matter how difficult it is, ease will come. We believe nothing lasts forever.

“Nothing bad and nothing good lasts forever. Let us intensify prayers in our congregations and encourage our followers to pray for our leaders.

“We will not castigate them; we will allow Almighty Allah to deal with them as He wishes and He will,” the Sultan notes.

Arewa APC Merger Group Hails President Tinubu for Release of Detained minors

The Arewa APC Merger Group has thanked President Bola Tinubu for his swift and compassionate response in ordering the release of detained minors involved in the #EndBadGovernance protests.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa in Abuja, the group expressed gratitude for the President’s decisive action, which has brought renewed hope to many Nigerians.

The release order from President Tinubu came after the Arewa APC Merger Group took substantial steps to advocate for the detained children.

In response to reports of mistreatment, including allegations of malnutrition and poor conditions, the group provided essential food and support to the minors both at the Federal High Court in Abuja and while in custody.

This effort underscored the group’s commitment to the welfare of young Nigerians and their resolve to seek justice.

Breaking: Court Drops Charges Against Minors

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday struck out the charges brought against a total of 119 #EndBadGovernance protesters.

All 119 protesters were arraigned on Friday, November 1 on charges bordering on Treason felony, inciting to mutiny, among others.

#

The defendants were arraigned in two batches at the previous proceeding.

The first batch comprised a total of 76 protesters which included 32 minors and the second batch a total of 43 protesters.

The trial judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, struck out the suit following an application by the counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, M. D Abubakar, to take over and discontinue the matter.
