2023: NNPP uncovers plans by APC, to buy, hoard voters’ cards in Kano
The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Kano State has uncovered plans by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to reduce the number of people having Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state by luring and seizing them from the original owners with the express purpose of disenfranchising them.
This is just as the party noted with dismay that for the very first time in the history of governance in the state, the incumbent has turned government affairs into a family affair, as evidently seen in government policies and appointments, adding that it is more worrisome, sad and disastrous that the anointed APC Gubernatorial candidate has sworn by the Holy Qur’an to continue with these uninterrupted destructions of Kano State.

The party made these known as part of pointers to the state government’s abandonment of its primary responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of the citizens by being myopic and driven by sentiments, emotions, vendetta, and self-enrichment, as contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the NNPP gubernatorial, senatorial, House of Representatives, state house of assemblies’ candidates and party executives sensitization workshop held on September 15, 2022 at DUTSE ROYAL HOTEL, MAIDUGURI ROAD, in Kano.
According to the statement signed by the workshop chairman, Honorable Garba Diso, and secretary, Dr. Hamisu Sadi Ali, the workshop, in seeking quick solutions to the threat of disenfranchisement, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to as a matter of urgency publish and paste the names of all uncollected PVCs in order to create awareness for the rightful owners to claim them.
Among other issues highlighted by the workshop were the Destruction of the Educational System following the Closure and de-boarding of unity schools; non-payment of all examination fees by the state government to WAEC, NECO, and NBAIS; delayed and non-payment of scholarship allowances to foreign and local students; and the creation of non-educationally friendly environment within school premises through the construction of corner shops in schools like Northwest University, Kano.
Furthermore, the workshop emphasized that Kano State is now one of the leading states in terms of drug abuse and thuggery under the watch of Governor Ganduje and his administration, adding that the KIRU REHABILITATION CENTRE which was established by the Kwankwaso’s administration for drug abuse has since been closed down by Ganduje’s administration.
Another disturbing issue raised by the workshop is that of land Grabbing, and dubious allocations and selling of land to intentionally deface Kano State. It stated that despite the mechanisms put in place by the previous administrations to control illegal and sub- standard buildings, the government of Governor Ganduje intentionally allowed these illegal practices with government approval which have resulted in flooding, building collapse and even death.
The workshop therefore expressed utmost concern over the flooding and collapse of buildings that occurred recently at Kantin Kwari and Civic Centre markets respectively which led to loss of lives and properties among others, just as it extended its profound condolences and sympathy to all those affected by the disaster, on behalf of the National leader/Presidential candidate of the party, Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the state executives, the party Gubernatorial and his running mate, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly candidates.
The workshop finally declared total support of the NNPP’s position in the state, reiterating that the 2023 election must be completely different from the previous one and adding that the party will do all it can within the ambit of law to ensure that the 2023 election is free, fair and credible.

Peter Obi Condemns Allegations Against Seyi Tinubu, Calls for Justice
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the recent allegations leveled against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. The accusations, made by Atiku Abubakar Isah, the factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), have sparked widespread debate and raised critical questions about the state of student leadership and democracy in Nigeria.
According to reports, Isah alleged that Seyi Tinubu abducted and tortured him after he refused to accept a bribe purportedly offered to him[ The student leader further claimed that Tinubu’s son attempted to disrupt the inauguration of the NANS leadership in Abuja, using thugs to disperse the gathering
These allegations have ignited discussions about the independence of student leadership and the broader implications for Nigeria’s democratic values.
Reacting to the controversy, Peter Obi described the allegations as “troubling”, emphasizing that if proven true, they would signify a dangerous erosion of young voices in the country’s political landscape
He stressed that Nigerian youth should not be coerced, silenced, or forced into political agendas that do not reflect their will.
**“The oppression of young voices, whether through force, patronage, or intimidation, is a dangerous path that we must not normalize,”Obi stated. He further called for a return to a Nigeria where justice is done and seen to be done, where youth can speak freely, and where institutions act responsibly
Meanwhile, Seyi Tinubu has strongly denied the allegations, dismissing them as false and defamatory.
In a statement posted on his social media, he refuted claims that he had ever met Isah or orchestrated any attack against him. **“I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world,”** Tinubu stated, adding that the accusations were entirely fictional.
As the controversy unfolds, Nigerians await further developments, with calls for a thorough investigation into the matter. The allegations have intensified discussions on the role of student leadership in Nigeria and the influence of political figures on youth organizations.

Dangote Sponsors Nasarawa Trade Fair
In a strategic partnership to support the economy of Nasarawa State, the Dangote Group is sponsoring the 2025 Nasarawa Trade Fair Exhibition which officially opens this Wednesday in Lafia, the State capital.
The Trade Fair, according to the Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Nasarawa State Chapter, Nidan Sambo Manasseh, will be declared open by the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
He said the Fair is a collaboration between NASSI and the Nasarawa State Chamber of Commerce Agriculture and Industries.
The Theme for this year’s Fair is: Investing in Nasarawa’s Future: Fostering Economic Development Through Mineral and Agricultural Cottage Industrialization.
He added: “The Nasarawa Trade Fair Exhibition (NASTFE) is a vital catalyst for the State’s economic transformation. This strategic initiative by NASSI directly aligns with Governor Abdullahi Alhaji Sule’s vision to stimulate investment and unlock significant growth.”
A statement from the Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said: “Nasarawa State is central to our overall investment in Nigeria. It is home to Dangote’s Nasarawa Sugar Company Limited (NSCL). The sugar project when completed will be one of the biggest sugar investments on the African continent.”
The statement quoted the Senior Special Adviser to the Dangote Group’s President, Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, as saying that: “We are not taking this partnership for granted. Our Strategic Business Units (SBUs) are also participating.
According to her, some of the Business Units participating from the Dangote Group are: Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), Dangote SinoTruck, Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dangote Salt (NASCON) and Dangote Cement, among others.”
Mrs Abdurrahman said the Trade Fair offers the company an opportunity to interact with stakeholders and Nigerians who may want to do business with the company.
She said a special Help Desk will be created for inquiries to enable the company to receive feedback from participants.
She urged participants to visit the company’s pavilion and take advantage of its innovative products.

Dangote, NASSI, Forge Ties To Boost Investments In Nasarawa
The Nigeria Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Nasarawa State Chapter, is partnering with the Dangote Industries Limited(DIL) to drive fresh investment options in the State.
With 68,000 hectares, the Dangote’s Nasarawa Sugar Company Limited (NSCL) in Tunga, is considered Nigeria’s biggest Backward Integration Policy (BIP) project in the sugar sector.
Speaking to newsmen in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Nasarawa State Chapter, Nidan Sambo Manasseh, said the 2025 Trade Fair and Exhibition has provided the chance for the Dangote Group and NASSI to consider the numerous business opportunities in the State.
He said: “We are actively exploring opportunities to deepen our collaboration with the Dangote Group, particularly in expanding employment programmes through youth and women’s skills acquisition and other vital support services.
“We deeply appreciate the Dangote Group’s invaluable collaboration through financial support and sponsorship of NASSI’s programs. Their contribution has been exceptional, and we are profoundly grateful.”
