The Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated a fully equipped two-storey building—featuring modern classrooms, digital language laboratories, multimedia studios, and learning-engineered furniture—to the Alliance Française Kano.

The renowned edupreneur further solidified his commitment to promoting education and cultural exchange by providing an additional N10 million as operational funding to support the smooth running and sustainability of the centre.

The new edifice, unveiled by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, alongside Prof. Gwarzo, is outfitted with smart learning boards, high-speed internet connectivity, conference halls, audio-visual teaching aids, and a digital resource library.

Located at Ahmadiyya Junction along Airport Road in Kano, the facility is now regarded as one of the most sophisticated French language and cultural training centres in Northern Nigeria.

According to Prof. Gwarzo, the establishment of such an ultra-modern edifice will greatly boost bilingual education in Kano, giving students access to world-class French language training.

In his address, the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, commended Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for donating the edifice and equipping it with world-class facilities.

The Envoy prayed to God to grant Prof. Gwarzo long life and good health so he can continue the remarkable humanitarian and educational contributions he has been known for.

The Director of Alliance Française Kano, Ali Dabo, expressed profound appreciation to Prof. Gwarzo for the building and the extensive facilities provided.

He noted that in the decades of the centre’s presence in Kano, no individual has redesigned, transformed, or upgraded the centre to this exceptional standard the way Prof. Gwarzo has done.

He further thanked Prof. Gwarzo for finally providing the organisation with a permanent and dignified office after operating as a tenant for over a decade.

Four Rivers Lawmakers Revive Impeachment Plot Against Fubara

By Yusuf Danjuma Yunusa

Four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had publicly withdrawn from impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara have abruptly reversed their position, declaring renewed support for the process.

The lawmakers announced their U-turn during a live broadcast on Friday, just days after advocating for dialogue to resolve the state’s deepening political crisis. Their reversal signals a significant shift in the dynamics within the Assembly.

The impeachment move, initiated last week by Speaker Martin Amaewhule’s leadership, targets both Governor Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, over allegations of gross misconduct. Key charges include the unauthorized demolition of the state Assembly complex and the alleged diversion of public funds without legislative approval.

In a surprising development earlier this week, the four legislators had distanced themselves from the process, calling for reconciliation between Monday and Wednesday. Their withdrawal had cast doubt on the momentum of the impeachment effort, speculation that grew when the Assembly failed to reconvene for a scheduled plenary on Thursday.

However, during Friday’s broadcast, pro-impeachment members insisted the process was “constitutional” and the necessary solution to the political impasse. With the four members now reaffirming their support, the drive to impeach the governor appears to have regained critical momentum within the divided House.
