Gwarzo Local Government Area has completed comprehensive arrangements to immunize an estimated two hundred thousand children in the upcoming Polio Vaccination Campaign aimed at strengthening child health and preventing the resurgence of poliomyelitis.

This initiative stands as one of the most far-reaching and historic immunization exercises to be undertaken in the local government, reflecting a firm resolve to protect the lives and wellbeing of children.

Speaking shortly after inspecting the training sessions for ad-hoc vaccination personnel, the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area, Dr. Mani Tsoho, reaffirmed that the administration is fully committed to achieving total coverage and ensuring a smooth vaccination process.

He emphasized that the trained personnel have been adequately equipped with the necessary guidelines, strategies, and sensitization skills required for successful house-to-house operations.

The Chairman stated that the quality of the training reflects the seriousness of the government in preserving the health of future generations.

He described the vaccination exercise as a pivotal intervention that aligns with global health standards and national mandates to maintain a polio-free Nigeria.

Dr. Tsoho explained that the initiative is more than just an exercise; it is a vital step toward sustaining community immunity and ensuring that every child is safe from preventable diseases.

He noted that the preparedness of the vaccination teams gives the local government full confidence in attaining remarkable success.

Parents and guardians were strongly encouraged to present their children for vaccination, as their cooperation remains the backbone of the campaign’s achievement.

Dr. Tsoho stressed that immunization is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to a child, protecting them from life-long disabilities and strengthening their health.

He appealed to all households to open their doors to vaccination officers and give them maximum support during the exercise.

The Chairman also urged communities to help in mobilizing families, neighbors, and relatives so that no child is excluded.

He recognized the indispensable role of traditional rulers, whose moral authority and grassroots influence continue to promote acceptance of government health programs.

Stakeholders such as community elders, religious leaders, and youth organizations were equally commended for standing firmly behind public health initiatives.

Healthcare workers serving in Gwarzo Local Government Area were praised for their resilience and longstanding dedication to the welfare of the people.

The Chairman acknowledged that their sacrifice forms the foundation of improved healthcare delivery in the region.

He lauded elected and appointed officials across the local government for continuously supporting health-related projects that uplift the lives of citizens.

Dr. Tsoho highlighted the critical contributions of NGOs operating in the area, noting that their partnership has strengthened service delivery and expanded community outreach.

He assured all stakeholders that the local government remains committed to collaboration that promotes the health and progress of the people.

In a significant acknowledgement, Dr. Mani Tsoho expressed deep appreciation to the Kano State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, FNISE, whose health sector reforms have revitalized hospitals, clinics, and primary healthcare centers across the state.

He stated that Governor Yusuf’s leadership has ensured the steady supply of essential drugs, vaccines, and medical consumables to all LGAs, including Gwarzo, thereby enabling successful immunization exercises.

The Chairman noted that the Governor’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure and human resource capacity has restored public confidence in the state’s health system.

He added that the impact of these reforms is evident in the quality of services now available to residents at grassroots level.

Dr. Tsoho also extended heartfelt commendation to the Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Higher Education, for his unwavering support toward community development and health programs.

He described the Deputy Governor as a visionary grassroots leader whose influence, guidance, and administrative wisdom continue to benefit Gwarzo Local Government and Kano State at large.

The Chairman emphasized that Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo’s contributions have strengthened coordination, mobilization, and public awareness efforts in preparation for the vaccination campaign.

He highlighted the Deputy Governor’s role in ensuring that state-level health policies are effectively implemented across all wards and communities.

Dr. Tsoho acknowledged that the synergy between the Governor and Deputy Governor has produced a new era of inclusive governance, improved service delivery, and strengthened social support systems.

He reaffirmed Gwarzo Local Government’s readiness to continue supporting the developmental agenda of the state government, especially in the areas of health, education, and public welfare.

The Chairman concluded by urging every household to embrace the vaccination exercise wholeheartedly, emphasizing that the future of the community depends on the health and protection of its children.

He expressed strong optimism that with full community participation, Gwarzo Local Government Area will achieve a record-breaking immunization outcome that safeguards generations to come.

Political War Erupts as Kwankwaso Rubbishes Marafa’s Call to Sack Matawalle

Published

The Director of Finance and Administration of the Hadejia–Jama’are River Basin Authority, Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has dismissed as futile the call by former Senator Kabiru Marafa for the removal of Dr. Bello Matawalle as Minister of Defence, insisting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully satisfied with Matawalle’s performance.

Kwankwaso made the remark while addressing journalists at a press briefing in Abuja, describing Marafa’s demand as unfortunate, baseless and driven by personal bitterness, and stressing that it would not influence the President’s decision.

He said it was disturbing that a politician from the same state as the minister, Zamfara, would publicly attack Matawalle despite the minister’s commitment to national service.

“I was truly shocked when I heard the comments of former Senator Kabiru Marafa calling for the removal of the Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, even going as far as fabricating lies and false allegations against him. These statements are clearly driven by confusion and jealousy, and Mr. President will never accept them from enemies hiding behind criticism,” Kwankwaso said.

Hon. Kwankwaso further argued that Marafa lacks the moral standing to speak on security matters, citing a controversial traditional title allegedly linked to criminal elements within Marafa’s immediate circle.

“Besides jealousy and bitterness, Marafa has no justification to speak on security issues. A close relative of his senior brother was said to have been involved in helping to confer a traditional leadership title on the notorious bandit leader, Ado Aliero, in Yandoto. It was during Dr. Bello Matawalle’s tenure as governor that the title was subsequently suspended. So I ask: if he truly has a conscience, does he really have the right to speak on security?” he queried.

Kwankwaso also recalled past political comments credited to Marafa, in which the former senator reportedly vowed to defeat President Tinubu politically, questioning the sincerity of his present demand.

“Not long ago, Marafa openly said he would defeat Tinubu and cause him a one-million-vote loss. Now the same person who once wished the President’s failure is calling on the President to remove someone who is working for the success of his administration. That contradiction exposes the real motive behind these attacks,” he added.

He maintained that President Tinubu’s confidence in Dr. Matawalle remains firm, noting that no amount of pressure, manipulation or political jealousy would force the President to act against his judgment.

In his concluding remarks, Kwankwaso cautioned Northerners against what he described as a growing culture of destructive rivalry and bitterness, where individuals seek the downfall of others simply because they have lost political relevance.

He warned that those currently calling for Matawalle’s removal might be the same people who would later accuse the President of marginalising the North should he appoint someone else from outside the region.
