The former Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Saminu Turaki has officially announced his defection to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from All Progressive Congress (APC).

Turaki made the announcement on Monday shortly after a brief meeting with Jigawa PDP caucus in his house at Kano.

The former governor said, he decided to join hands with ex governor Sule Lamido and flushed out governor Badaru with his political allies out of government house Dutse.

“I joined People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with aims to move Jigawa forward and to liberate our people from APC dictatorships.

“As a leader I didn’t join PDP to get any position but, rather I will do my best and lead the party to victory in the forthcoming 2023 general election” ,Turaki said.

While making his remarks, The Jigawa State party chairman of PDP Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim Gumel said, the entire family of People’s Democratic Party in Jigawa welcome the former governor and thousands of his supporters into the party.

He assured the decampees that, the party will treat them with justice and equally with all other members

Bauchi State Governor Announces Cabinet Reshuffle, Dismisses Security Commissioner

Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the immediate removal of Ibrahim Gambo Galadima from his position as Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

The announcement was made Monday via an official statement from Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

According to the statement, this dismissal is part of a “minor change in the composition” of the State Executive Council. The move is intended to periodically refresh the administration’s leadership to enhance governance and service delivery.

“The decision re-emphasizes the Government’s resolve to… continuously inject fresher ideas to strengthen governance, reposition the cabinet for improved service delivery, and ensure the effective implementation of Government policies and programmes across the state,” the statement read.

Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to Galadima for his service and extended best wishes for his future endeavours. He further reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, security, and good governance for the people of Bauchi State.

The Governor’s media office confirmed that a replacement for the commissioner will be announced in due course.

JUST IN: Appeal Court Upholds Senate’s Suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday affirmed the power of the Senate to suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, ruling that the action was constitutionally valid.

In a unanimous judgment, a three-member panel dismissed the Senator’s challenge to her suspension, concluding that the Senate acted within its authority and that the suspension did not infringe upon her parliamentary privileges or constitutional rights.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate in March 2025 following an investigation into alleged misconduct. The disciplinary action stemmed from an altercation on the Senate floor involving the Senator and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The court’s ruling solidifies the Senate’s disciplinary powers over its members regarding internal parliamentary conduct.

Again, Tinubu Meets Fubara, Wike Behind Doors

The political storm in Rivers State may be easing following a late-night intervention by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Sunday.

According to The Nation on Monday, the President reportedly held talks with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other key leaders from the state.

While the details of the meeting remain under wraps, The Nation reports that Governor Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the discussions.

The report added that Fubara allegedly begged the minister, vowing never to show him disrespect again, signalling a potential reconciliation between the state’s powerful political figures.
