The National Association of Government Secondary School Goron Dutse Old Boys has praised the governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his decision to demolish the shops and buildings constructed in the school premises and its surroundings during the previous administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Previously, the organization had strongly condemned the sale of public school premises by the government of Dr. Ganduje to unpatriotic merchants who showed no interest in the development of education in the state.

The National body of the Old Boys expressed its support for the demolition of the illegal structures around public schools through their Public Relations Officer 1, Comrade Salisu Ismail Kabuga.

“For a long time, we had hoped for a government that would safeguard the schools of the underprivileged children. The previous government colluded with businessmen who had no interest in education and destroyed these schools,” stated Comrade Salisu Kabuga, the National Spokesman of the Association, during a press conference held at the location of GSS Goron Dutse along FCE Kano road on Sunday.

Comrade Salisu Kabuga, the National spokesperson for GSS Goron Dutse, added, “The previous government deceived the alumni groups into selling the surrounding areas of the affected schools, promising improved conditions for education. However, no positive changes or improvements were observed in the development of education in our schools; instead, the situation worsened. We hope that under the leadership of the current governor, Engr. Kabir Yusuf, the condition of the schools will be improved.”

Furthermore, Comrade Salisu Kabuga urged the state government to expedite its commitment to enhancing the education sector by reclaiming the Kano schools that were previously sold and providing all the necessary facilities for conducive learning and teaching to take place.

He also assured the government of the cooperation and support of all the Old Boys organizations in Kano in achieving the educational goals set by the current government to elevate education standards in the state
