Former Federal Commissioner for Information and elder statesman, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has passed away at the age of 97. His family confirmed his death in a statement, announcing that he died on Monday night, February 17, 2025.
“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday 17th February 2025,” the statement read.
Born in Kiagbodo, in the Ijaw area of present-day Delta State, Clark had a distinguished career in public service. He attended schools in Effurun, Okrika, and Afugbene before completing further studies at the Government Teacher Training College, now Delta State University, Abraka. After a brief stint as a school teacher, he traveled abroad to obtain a law degree.
Clark played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s governance, serving as an adviser to military governor David Ejoor of the Mid-Western Region in 1966. He later worked with the administrations of military governor Samuel Ogbemudia and Nigeria’s head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, from 1966 to 1975. In 1975, he was appointed Federal Commissioner for Information.
Beyond his government service, Clark remained a key voice in the Niger Delta, championing the interests of the region. As the chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), he was a relentless advocate for resource control and the rights of the Niger Delta people.
His passing marks the end of an era for Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly in the South-South region.

The Kaduna Doka Development Association has called on Governor Uba Sani and other relevant authorities to seek justice for the murder of Ahmed Musa, a student at Technical School Malali. The appeal highlights the urgent need for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim and his grieving family.
Ahmed Musa, the son of Alhaji Musa, a respected member of the Kaduna Doka Development Association, was brutally murdered on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but the incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
In an emotional letter addressed to His Excellency Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna Doka Development Association expressed profound sorrow and an urgent plea for justice. The letter, signed by the association’s chairman, Sani Rabiu Bako, emphasizes the devastating impact of this heinous act on the victim’s family and the broader community.
“We write to you with profound sorrow and an urgent plea for justice following the tragic and senseless murder of Ahmed Musa, the son of one of our esteemed members Alhaji Musa, at Technical School Malali. This heinous act has not only devastated the victim’s family but has also deeply affected our entire community,” the letter states.
Ahmed Musa’s father, Comrade Musa Mohammed, a journalist, political analyst, and activist, confirmed the incident, narrating how his son was found within the school premises with signs of brutalization and strangulation. “Ahmed Musa’s body was found within the school premises ‘Government Technical College Malali Kaduna’ with physical signs of brutalization and strangulation. We appeal for a comprehensive investigation to uncover those behind his death and call for adequate compensation by those found to have a hand in it,” he said.
The Kaduna Doka Development Association has always worked tirelessly to promote peace, unity, and development within the community. However, recent events have shaken their faith in the safety of their surroundings. The association urges Governor Uba Sani to direct the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
“We kindly request Your Excellency to direct the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice. We urge you to prioritize the safety and security of our citizens, especially in educational institutions where young lives should be nurtured and protected,” the letter adds.
In addition to seeking justice for Ahmed Musa, the association also calls for increased security presence, improved surveillance, and enhanced community policing to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The appeal concludes with a request for Governor Uba Sani’s prompt response and assurance that justice will be served, providing comfort to the bereaved family and restoring confidence in the justice system.
The letter was copied to the Commissioner of Education, Commissioner of Police, Director of the Department of State Security (DSS), Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC), and the Kaduna North Local Government Chairman.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the Kaduna Doka Development Association hopes that swift and decisive action will be taken to bring justice to Ahmed Musa and his family.
