Bagaja Renewables to provide uninterrupted green energy to Gida Dubu Estate

The Management of Bagaja Renewables says it is currently testing its 1MW independent peak connected solar mini grid plant that will provide green and sustainable electricity to Gida Dubu community in kano state.

This was contained in a statement issued to journalist in kano by the Project Director Sadiq Zakari when the company’s technical team carried out the final phase of testing exercise at its solar plant in Kumbotso Local Government of Kano State.

Zakari said the exercise involves evaluation of the solar infrastructure, grid connectivity and overall system reliability to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the infrastructure that will provide electricity supply to the residents of the community.

He added that “early result from the exercise indicates a promising outcome, affirming the potential of the 1MW peak interconnected solar mini grid to provide clean, sustainable and uninterrupted power supply to the people of Gida Duhu Estate in Kano State”.

Zalari said as the testing phase progresses, the company remain dedicated in addressing any challenges and optimizing the system for the benefit of the community while assuring the members of the community of timely completion and take-off of the groundbreaking project.

The independent solar mini-grid represents a significant leap towards energy independence and environmental sustainability in Nigeria, we are committed to delivering a reliable and resilient energy solutions that not only meets the community’s power needs, but also contribute to the reducing carbon footprint and fostering economic development, the statement added.

Bagaja renewable is the first independent 1MW peak interconnected solar grid in Nigeria whose mission is help unlock the economic potential of communities and businesses by meeting their energy needs.

Recalled that Bagaja Renewables has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kano Electricity Distribution Company in 2022 to provide green energy to 100 unserved and underserved communities within Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.

Governor Yusuf Makes Fresh Appointments, to Swear in New Commissioners Monday

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a series of strategic appointments aimed at strengthening his administration’s delivery of good governance.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the appointments, which take immediate effect, include Hon. Ahmad Muhammad Speaker as Special Adviser on Publicity.

Hon. Ahmad brings a wealth of experience, having served three terms as Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government and as the former APC State Organizing Secretary.

The Governor also named Engr. Ahmad as Special Adviser on Works, signaling a renewed focus on infrastructure development.

Additionally, Malam Sani Abdullahi Tofa was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties.

A highly respected figure, Malam Sani Tofa has served as a Khadi of the Sharia Court in Kano and Abuja, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Kano State Civil Service, and a former Director General of the Kano State Shari’a Commission.

Similarly, the Governor also appointed Hon. Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge as Chairman, Local Government Service Commission and Hajia Ladidi Ibrahim Garko as Chairman, Kano State Civil Service Commission.

The two appointees were the immediate past Commissioners of Finance and Tourism respectively.

The statement further revealed that the Governor has scheduled the swearing-in ceremony for Monday, 6th January 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House.

The ceremony will also include the inauguration of seven commissioner nominees recently screened by the Kano State House of Assembly, as well as all newly appointed Special Advisers.

These appointments underscore Governor Yusuf’s commitment to assembling a competent team to drive the state’s development agenda.

SSANU Urges Federal Government to Honour Promises in 2025

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has called on the federal government to honour its outstanding promises to the union in 2025.

In a New Year message, SSANU national president Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim stated that fulfilling these promises remains critical for maintaining industrial harmony and ensuring the welfare of university staff.

SSANU also stated that it is closely monitoring the Tax Reform Bills currently under consideration by the national assembly and their implications for workers’ economic stability.

Comrade Ibrahim stressed the need for inclusive and transparent policymaking, adding that SSANU is committed to advocating for reforms that protect its members’ interests while fostering national economic growth.

The union also expressed concern over the escalating electricity costs in universities, which hinder effective operations and urged the federal government to take immediate action to resolve this crisis.
He said, “We urge the honourable minister of education, Dr Tunji Alausa and his team to continue to maintain and strengthen the established relationship with SSANU.
It is imperative that the federal government fulfil its outstanding promises to the union, as these commitments are critical to industrial harmony and the welfare of university staff. “

“Additionally, the rising cost of living, inflation, cash crunch, and technological challenges continue to impact our members.

SSANU will persist in advocating for policies that enhance its members’ economic and professional well-being while pushing for technological upgrades to modernise our universities”.

SSANU also stated that the nation’s prevailing insecurity remains a significant barrier to sustainable growth, calling for intensified government efforts to address the issue.

Ibrahim further urged SSANU members to remain united and steadfast in pursuing fairness, equity, and justice. He expressed optimism that the union could overcome challenges and achieve new milestones in 2025 through collective efforts.
