The Patriots Network Nigeria and Citizens Stability Forum has described moves by some influential individuals to prevent the DSS from investigating the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele as unfortunate and unpatriotic.

The group stated this during a press conference in Kano said, these disgruntled elements and their proxies whom have benefited from sort of contracts and financial favors are sponsoring protests by some selfish CSOs and attacking the DSS and it’s DG. Yusuf Bichi.

According to the convener, Muktar Lawal, noted that, it is amazing why Mr. Emefiele who can afford the best lawyers in the country chose not to clear himself of the economic financial crimes of national security dimension he’s being accused of.

He said, these selfish elements who are best described as enemies of the state are using every influence at their disposal to lobby and beg the president to call the DSS to drop the investigations while on the other hand using other channels to smear the name of the DSS Director-General and his Staff.

“Emefiele’s cohorts and friends who assisted him in fleeing the country are busy recruiting the influence of some Monarchs and Traditional Rulers for the President to stop the investigation”.

“They are also sponsoring some civil society organizations to stage protest in the favor of the CBN Governor and using some media outlets to attack the DSS”

The groups called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to give listening ears to those pushing for the LEAVE HIM ALONE agenda so as not to reverse gains made by his government in fighting corruption.

They call on Nigerians to stand by the DSS in discharging their constitutional duty of intelligence gathering, prevention and detection of any crime/terrorism against the internal security of the country.

“Nigerians should not allow politicians and selfish elements to turn us against the very institution that protect our security interest and enemies of this country”, they added.

Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila

The Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their Secretaries from Kano South Senatorial District have called on Senator Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila to return to APC.

Speaking on behalf of the 16 APC Chairmen, their secretaries and ward leaders, the APC Chairman of Albasu Local Government, Alhaji Iliya Jibrin Hungu, said the call became necessary considering the value Sen. Sumaila would add to the party if returned.

Hungu added that “if Sen. Sumaila succumbs to our plea and returns to APC, no any other party will shine in Kano south, just as the man will unite the party members in the district.

“We knew the capacity and value of Sen. Sumaila in Kano politics. Though he is not a card carrying member of the APC, yet the man extends his hands of fellowship to all irrespective of their party affiliation.

“This is the kind of politician we need in APC. Sumaila to consider our plea.

“We have confidence that Sen. Sumaila will play a greater role in promoting APC in Kano. We really missed the man when he left the party and we are calling on him to return and join us to promote the party together, Hungu said.

The chairman explained that APC needs committed politicians like Sen. Sumaila who always devote their energy and resources for the well-being of their constituents.

He attested that “Sen. Sumaila has no match in Kano south. We really need the man back into the APC. We will be happy if the Senator accept to return to the party.”
