2023: KAROTA MD, Baffa Babba Dan-agundi to resign Monday

POLITICS DIGEST- The Managing Director of Kano Roads and Traffic Agency Baffa Babba Dan-agundi will tender his resignation letter to governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday.

This is following the provision of a new law in the electoral act that prohibits political appointees from voting and be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of nomination of candidates for any election.

Recalled that the Managing Director is in United Arab Emirates to inform the governor and seek for his consent in his next political move.

The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on KAROTA Nasiru Usman Naibawa has confirmed this story to POLITICS DIGEST saying that his Boss will be resigning on Monday to pursue his political career.

When asked about the next political move, Naibawa replied that his Boss may be contesting for State Assembly in Kano Municipal.

Naibawa further told this paper that Dan-agundi is qualified to even contest for governorship with the full backing of the governor.

“The track record of the MD is superb, he’s so far the best to happen as KAROTA head. His capacity, wisdom and knowledge which he applied in steering the activities of KAROTA is incredible”. Said Naibawa

However, It was learnt that the governor is trying to make Dan-agundi the running mate to Murtala Sule Garo to avoid tensions within the party.

It was reliably confirmed from other sources that Dan-agundi may be joined as running mate to Kabiru Rurum, a former Speaker of the State Assembly whom the Managing Director is solidly behind in his governorship ambition.

This is coming few days after the governor travelled to United Arab Emirate for an Investment Summit that was facilitated by Nigerian Governors Forum.

It would be recalled that the Commissioner for Local Government Murtala Sule Garo is awaiting the go ahead of the governor to tender his resignation and pursue his governorship ambition but is doubting the support of the governor.

Ganduje has refused to assure Garo of the ticket hence the need for Garo to make a follow up trip to Dubai and meet the governor next week.

A source confided to POLITICS DIGEST that the governor is not straightforward to Garo of whether he will give him all the needed support in his governorship ambition.

“That’s what’s delaying his resignation, he’s not sure of whether the governor will support him. He’s change these days, the governor speaks from the both side of his mouth but the pressure from other party stakeholders will make the governor to change his mind on Murtala.

Baffa Babba Dan-agundi is in Dubai too, Garo may be uncomfortable seeing the governor with Dan-agundi who is a frontline supporter of another powerful gubernatorial aspirant Kabiru Rurum.

I think this is why he had to travel and meet the governor to get assurance and support of His Excellency”. The source said.

Garo is one of the most powerful government officials in the administration of Ganduje, he’s the backing of the first family following his endorsement by the governor’s wife Hafsat Ganduje during an empowerment in Bichi last year.

The appeal was made by the Director-General of PLASCHEM, Dr Agabus Manasseh in a one-day interface with media professionals in Jos, Plateau State, themed “Media: A Tool for Sustainable Development.”

Dr Agabus emphasized the pivotal role of media partnerships in disseminating vital information about PLASCHEMA’s health insurance policies, enrollment procedures, and benefits to the populace. Through raising awareness about the importance of governmental backing for healthcare initiatives and advocating for health insurance coverage, the media can sway public opinion and policy formulation in favor of expanding access to quality healthcare services.
