Air Chief Commends Kano Government’s Support for Security Operations

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal, Hasan Bala Abubakar has applauded the support of Kano state government under the stewardship of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf towards strengthening it’s operational mandate in the state.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson Sunusi Bature, said Air Marshal Abubakar made the commendation on Thursday when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at Government house in Kano.

The Chief of Air Staff disclosed the joint force of his troops with sister security agencies in combating internal security in Kano yielded tremendous successes and maintained peace and stability in the state.

Air Mashal Abubakar noted the impact of Nigerian Airforce personnel in several operations that led to arrest of bandits and kidnappers on wanted list of DSS in Kano. He reassured the state government of NAF readiness to sustain internal stability.

The Kano born Chief however raised concern over encroachment of NAF land and re-allocation of its property. Abubakar pleaded for restoration of the land dedicated for its future expansion.

He also craved the Governor’s support in connecting the Kano state water facility to the NAF Base in the state for access to water supply.

Responding, Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf pledged readiness to strength partnership with Nigerian Air Force in the discharge of its operational mandate of ensuring internal peace and stability in the state.

The Governor Yusuf disclosed the critical role of the Nigerian Airforce in securing the nation’s air security component and providing cover to the ground troops against the internal and external enemies.

The Governor stressed the contribution of Air Force and sister military agencies in sustaining stability in Kano, reassured his administration’s commitment to build on the institutional relationship.

He however sought the consideration for Kano indigene in the recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Air Force, indicating the large percentage of youth population in the state.

The Governor equally requested for the establishment of Air Force Girls Comprehensive Secondary in Kano to complement the existing Boys Comprehensive Secondary School which is located in Kwa, in Dawakin Tofa, a long Kano-Katsina express way.

According to him, ” The government of Kano is proud of you and we are proud of your appointment which was based on professionalism and track record. Kano is also proud of your efforts to tackle the security challenges especially the menace of kidnapers, bandits and other criminals.

” Since we took over the mantle of leadership, the administration has enjoyed tremendous relationship and support from Air Force and sister security agencies and that was responsible for the peace and stability in Kano.

” We assured you, our administration will sustain support to the airforce in Kano especially in the area of operation and welfare of your personel for optimum performance of your statutory mandate. We also want to request for special consideration of placement into the air force consider our population which is estimated at 25 million.

” It is also noteworthy to request the reture of Girls Comprehensive secondary school to Kano. We are aware the girls were relocated due to the security challenge. We are also in need of more personnel to strengthen human capacity of the troops in Kano” Gov. Yusuf noted.

Thuggery:Dorayi Residents Decry Absence of Daughter’s Suitors

Residents of the Dorayi community in Gwale Local Government, Kano State, lamented that rampant thuggery in the area has led to youths refusing to marry their daughters.

This concern was raised during a community stakeholder meeting aimed at addressing the thuggery problem in the area and neighboring communities.

The meeting, which drew a large attendance from representatives of various affected areas, including Dorayi Karama, Chiranci, Gidan Dakali, Ja’en Makera, Gobirawa, and Kan Fako, was convened by the Dorayi Youths Community Development Association.

Initially, the association met with affected traders who suffered significant losses during the recent crisis that claimed many lives, including the commander of the vigilante group.

The association also engaged with parents and youths to promote peaceful coexistence.

Malam Muhammad Tijjani, chairman of the Dorayi security committee, explained that they discussed the insecurity menace extensively and developed a framework to address it.

Tijjani expressed concern that most thugs terrorizing the communities are under 35, and instead of being positive ambassadors, they cause trouble.

He noted that responsible individuals now hesitate to marry their daughters due to the thuggery acts, which threaten the future of their children, especially girls.

He cited an instance where a groom’s relatives refused to attend a wedding in Dorayi until the location was changed.

The ward head of Dorayi Karama, represented by Umar Shehu, pledged traditional rulers’ support for peace efforts.

He condemned politicians who secure bail for arrested thugs, allowing them to celebrate their release.

Dr. Abdullahi Idris Danfodiyo, a resident, highlighted the lack of unity and assistance for injured community members, leading to a decline in participation.

He welcomed the initiative to sanitize the area and deal with the culprits to restore the community’s reputation. He urged the new police commissioner, Salman Dogo, to reject bail requests for thugs caught in the act.

It can also be recalled that the former police commissioner, Usaini Gumel, who promised to establish an Anti-Daba office in the area and deployed the police Anti-Daba squad, which is no longer present.

APC Youth Caution Muaz Magaji to Guard His Utterances Against Governor Abba

APC youth activist Hon. Sadiq Ali Sango has issued a stern warning to former Kano State Commissioner for Works, Muazu Magaji, over his recent criticisms of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his perceived antagonism towards the government.

Sango condemned Magaji’s “unguarded utterances” and accused him of being a “real enemy of Kano.”

Sango, who had previously called for the dismissal of APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, did not mince words in his latest remarks. “Dan Sarauniya should mind his tongue,” Sango declared.
“The APC youths will not tolerate any baseless opposition against Governor Abba, who is making significant strides across all sectors.”

Sango asserted that the APC youth wing is prepared to defend Governor Abba’s administration vigorously.
“We are ready to fight him and expose his bad records and ill intentions against Kano.”
“He was sacked by Ganduje twice for poor performance and insubordination.
This is the evidence of his unsuitability to criticize the current administration. A person with such a tainted record has no grounds to criticize Governor Abba.”

Sango urged Magaji to cease his criticisms immediat on iakc zy mwnnnnzdcrnrely, warning of continued opposition from the APC youths if he persists.
“We urge him to stay away from such actions, or we are ready to fight till the end,” Sango concluded.

This development comes amid increasing political tensions in Kano State, as various factions within the APC grapple with internal disputes and external challenges.

Former Defence Chief Ogohi Passes On

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, has passed away.

Family sources told newsmen that Admiral Ogohi died on Sunday after a brief illness.

Ogohi served as Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003, having been appointed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He succeeded Air Marshal Al-Ameen Daggash following the handover of power to civilians.

Ogohi retired as a four-star general in the Nigerian Navy in 2003 and was succeeded by General Alexander Ogomudia.
