Kano to Collaborate with NGOs for Sector Development

Kano State Government has pledged to collaborate with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Societies for the development of various sectors in the state.

 

The State Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin (Provost), made this commitment when members of an NGO under the aegis of Partnership To Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) paid him a congratulatory visit in his office.

Alhaji Jibrin (Provost) also assured to collaborate with development partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and civil societies to enhance the development of many sectors in the state.

He emphasized that the present administration in the state is ready to partner and work in synergy with NGOs, whom he described as tools for development. The government of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf will utilize all the potentialities of non-governmental organizations for positive development across the state.

He emphasized that the state government will not hesitate to accept ideas that will enhance working synergy among the MDAs and 44 Local Government Areas for effective and efficient benefitting the entire people of the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Partnership State Facilitation Manager, Malam Auwalu Hamza, disclosed that the team was in the commissioner’s office to deliver a congratulatory message on behalf of the entire staff of PERL in the state. Malam Hamza maintained that “we are here also to intimate you on the role of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development as a coordinator in all reforms and laws supported by PERL”.

He added that the PERL supported reforms and laws which include Kano State being among the top 25% of states in the World Bank SIFTAS program in the country and the establishment of the Public Debt Management Office (DMO) with an accompanying implementation plan for DMO law among others.

In a statement by Bashir Habib Yahaya, Director of Public Enlightenment of the Ministry, those in attendance during the visit included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Lawan Shehu Abdulwahab, State Focal Person of SIFTAS, Malam Imam Inuwa Gwale, and some of the management staff of the ministry

Kano Commissioner Sponsors 500 Students for NCE Program

The Commissioner of Land & Physical Planning, Hon. Abduljabbar M. Umar, has announced the sponsorship of 500 students from all 44 local governments of Kano State to embark on a three-year NCE program at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano State. This effort supports the Executive Governor of Kano, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing education.

At the occasion, organized by the Friends of Governor Abba K. Yusuf, Hon. Abduljabbar Umar emphasized the importance of collective and individual support for education at all levels. He praised Governor Yusuf for declaring a State of Emergency in Education and prioritizing the improvement of educational standards in Kano State.

The sponsorship initiative is seen as a significant step towards elevating the quality of education in the state, reflecting the administration’s dedication to fostering educational development.

Kano Commissioner of Works Hails Governor Yusuf’s NUT Golden Award

Kano State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marwan Ahmad, has praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for receiving the Golden Award from the Nigeria Union of Teachers during the 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration held in Abuja.

Engineer Marwan Ahmad made this statement in an interview with Abba Hamisu of Time Base Television.

The commissioner said the award is a testament to Governor Yusuf’s untiring efforts in improving infrastructure in Kano’s primary schools, which had been in a state of dilapidation for the past eight years.

He added that the governor has renovated hundreds of schools in the state and provided infrastructure like desks and instructional materials.

The commissioner also noted that, in addition to primary schools, the governor is working tirelessly to ensure the renovation of all schools in the state, including secondary and post-secondary institutions.

He said the Golden Award given to Governor Yusuf by the NUT is a significant acknowledgment of the governor’s strides in infrastructure development across the state.
