Nasiru Gawuna Wins Kano APC Gubernatorial Primary Election

Kano State Deputy Governor Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Primary Election in the State.

Gawuna defeated his opponent Hon.Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada to emerge winner of the Primary Election held in the late hours of thursday at the Sani Abacha Sports Complex,Kofar Mata,Kano.

Declaring the result, the Chairman of the Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura said Gawuna polled 2,289 votes while the other aspirant Sha’aban had 30 votes.

He added that the total number of delegates for the exercise is 2,420, those accredited for exercise still 2,420, total votes cast is 2,339 while invalid votes are 20.

In his words: “I Sen.Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, Chairman of Kano APC Governorship Primary Election Committee on behalf of the National working committee of our party hereby announced that result for this election have been collated and counted accordingly. I hereby certified that Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner.”

“He is therefore the standard flag bearer of the APC in the Gubernatorial election that will take place in 2023 in Kano State he said”.

In his remarks the APC Gubernatorial Candidate Dr.Nasiru Gawuna thanked Allah for the victory,he appreciated the support of Governor Ganduje, the party leaders and delegates.While appealing to all party members to join hands and work hard towards the success and victory of the APC during the general elections he commended them for conducting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during the primary election.

On his part, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje commended the election committee for a thorough and transparent exercise.

The primary election was supervised by the representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission,the Police and Department of State Security.

Nation Wide Protest Begins From Abuja-Sowore Tackles  Wike

Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has dared Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, for saying that Abuja is not available for protest on August 1.

Sowore in a post on his X handle on Friday said the proposed nationwide protests will start from Abuja.

He said: “It is starting from and in Abuja!”

Sowore’s statement comes after Wike said that August 1 had been set aside for the chairmen of the six Area Councils of the FCT to give out certificates of recognition to their traditional rulers.

The Minister gave the warning while briefing journalists on the outcome of the FCT Security Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

Reports says that some Nigerians are mobilising for nationwide protest slated for August 1 to August 10, 2024.

Tagged #EndBadGovernace, organisers of the protest have lamented about widespread hunger and inflation in the country.

Robbers Gunned Down While Attempting To Snatch Jeep In Abuja

Two suspected armed robbers were shot dead while attempting to snatch a Prado Jeep at gunpoint in the Jahi area of Abuja, the nation’s capital.

CP Benneth Igweh, disclosed this to newsmen while parading two arrested members of the robbery gang at the command in Abuja, on Friday.

He said this happened around 10:45 pm on Thursday, when a four-men robbery engaged the operatives who were on crime prevention patrol led by DPO of Mabushi police division in a fierce gun battle.

According to him, the four-men robbery gang on sighting the police operatives opened fire, which resulted in a gun duel where two among the robbers were neutralized.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Dr Abdullahi Imar Ganduje has congratulated Dr Baffa Babba Danagundi on his appointment as the Director General of the National Productivity Centre by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ganduje who was excited by the appointment thanked President Tinubu for considering party loyalists like Danagundi.

On his part, the Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I Jibrin described the appointment as timely and well deserved.

“Appointing Danagundi to key political positions will further strengthen the relevance of our great party looking at the fact that he is a grassroots mobilizer of note “. Said Barau Jibrin.

Danagundi was at the residence of the National Chairman to present his letter of appointment and to thank him for the support he has been rendering to the APC.

Ganduje further praised the newly appointed Director General for breaking the record of any political mobilisation in Kano during the presidential campaign in 2023

Abdullahi Abbas who was also present during the presentation of the letter of appointment described the appointment as timely saying that the president has appointed his staunch and key loyalist.

“Tinubu has appointed a team player, a loyal party member and a hard-working man who will no doubt by God’s mercy take this agency to greater heights in the consolidation of the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu “.

Present at the residence of the party chairman are the Kano Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate of the party in 2023 Murtala Sule Garo and other party chieftains.
