Why Kano Pillars Remains Silent on Usman Abdallah’s Suspension

By Ahmad Hamisu Gwale
The management of Kano Pillars FC has remained silent regarding the suspension of its head coach, Usman Abdallah.
The Independent mirror reports in August 2024, Kano Pillars FC appointed Usman Abdallah as its new Technical Adviser.
Abdallah the experienced coach signed a two-year contract with an option for a third, bringing his wealth of expertise to Sai Masu Gida.
However, the club suspended Usman Abdallah for three weeks due to the team’s poor performance and his conduct towards fans immediately after the NPFL Matchday 22 goalless draw against Bayelsa United.
Following the draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Abdallah’s gesture towards the fans was deemed inappropriate by the management under the leadership of Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, leading to disciplinary action.
Subsequently, Abdallah publicly apologized to the supporters on a Kano local radio station for the regrettable incident involving him and the fans.
However, the management of Kano Pillars FC extended his suspension until after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 28 fixture against Kwara United.
To date, the investigative committee, led by the Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo, has yet to conclude and announce its findings on the allegations against him.
Unfortunately, recent developments have cast doubt on the club’s handling of Abdallah’s situation, raising concerns about the management’s decision-making process.
An anonymous source told Independent Mirror that a troubling reality exists within the club, some individuals, disguising themselves as die-hard fans, are allegedly oppressing players and coaches for financial and material benefits.
“These so-called supporters reportedly demand money, gifts, and other favors from players and coaches, threatening consequences if their demands are not met,” the source revealed.
“Failure to comply could result in a player losing his place in the squad or even his jersey, while coaches face relentless pressure and harassment,” the source added.
It’s surprising and irrational that a professional club like Kano Pillars FC cannot resolve the issue of the suspension of its Technical Adviser for over five weeks.
He was initially suspended for only two weeks, which may have legal implications regarding their agreed contract.
It is overdue, and it is high time for Kano Pillars management to make a decision on whether to terminate the contract by mutual consent and negotiate compensation, or to return the Technical Adviser to his position.
Despite the expiration of Usman Abdallah’s suspension, the Kano Pillars management has remained silent on their next decisions.
Efforts to reach the Kano Pillars media department for a response were unsuccessful, as the department failed to answer or respond to several request for comments on the matter.

Open Letter To Our Dear Kano Governor- AKY:AN SOS To Kano Pillars FC

By Ahmad Rufai Bello Jr
I won’t say Kano PILLARS FC isn’t performing in the NPFL, but not exceptionally impressive considering its past antecedents.
Its current 8th position in the Nigerian premier League is not bad but deserves at least to be among the top 5 at all costs!
Please , our dear governor Abba Kabir Yusuf – AKY, do the needful to bridge the financial gap in the overall existence of this most marketable club in Nigeria.
Our excellent performances in the previous Leagues, resulting in winning numbers of the Premier League trophies were as the result of the players and management as well as the fans performance. But all these wouldn’t have happened without our past State governors’ all round support
I stand to testify that I was privileged to be among the Pillars entourage that travelled to Liberia, Central Africa Republique, Senegal, among others to report its great performance in the CAF champions League!
One may ask, CAF champions League?
Yes, the CAF champions League!!
I was also opportuned to be among those that were tasked to statistically assess the entire team’s/ individual performance.
Incidentally, the current captain, Rabiu Ali Pele was in that team.
The Kano State governors at their various times, then, gave this team all the desired support to win the league and delivered in the champions League.
Was that assemblage of players better than now? No. I repeat NO NO!.
Today’s PILLARS FC has
l1. Best Media reportage
2. Well coordinated fans club
3. Committed management
4. Young, talented and vibrant players and tech team ever ready to do it
5. A serious minded government, to mention a few.
What today’s PILLARS FC lack are:
* State government’s dedicated financial commitment to the club’s aspirations
* Vigorously aggressive marketing strategies to project Pillars big status to attract sponsors/ partners
* Highly creative Administrative/ Management techniques that’s of global standards.
* All round financial backing by the state government, most of all, the state governor’s financial attention.
We must not forget that these challenges may not be unconnected to the current unimpressive position in the Nigerian professional football league . These also attract; serious unethical interference from some quarters , if I may say, political stances.
Your Excellency Sir,
You are a sports lover and developer.
Your untiring commitment to the growth of our dear state is unmatchable!
You are an octopus whose hands, according to our forefathers, are on everything.
Your Midas touch should also be on all Kano sports, in particular, Kano pillars FC.
You are the only person I’m optimistic, that can make pillars redeem it’s lost status.
On a final note, Kano State used to be a giant sports state during governor, late Dominic Oneya, Kano PILLARS used to be a strong force even during governors, RM Kwankwaso, Shekarau and Ganduje.
YOUR EXCELLENCY SIR, YOURS SHOULD NOT BE AN EXCEPTION
