Academic  Staff Union of Colleges of Agriculture(ASUCA) chapter of the  Federal College of  Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano (FCAPT) has dragged the Minister of Agriculture,  Mohammed Sabo Nanono before National Industrial Court  Abuja for allegedly violating an order issued by the court.

The association in a missive dated 4th September 2020  signed by Najib Hamisu(Esq) and addressed to the chief registrar  National Industrial Court, Abuja,  stated that the court last Wednesday(on September 2, 2020) had ordered the minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Sabo Nanono to refrain from adopting self-help methods in resolving the leadership crisis engulfing Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, FCAPT, Kano.

The plaintiff said Justice I  S. Galadima in an order issued by his court had mandated all the parties involved in the crisis to maintain the status quo, pending the determination of the substantive suit filed before the court challenging the appointment of one Dr. Mohammed Yusha”u Gwaram as the provost of the school.

The plaintiff alleged that the court order have been violated by the 1st, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria), 2nd defendant(Mohammed Sabo Nanono, minister of agriculture), and 3rd defendant Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology).

The plaintiffs further claimed that the trio accompanied by police officers proceed to contravene the order of the court by forcefully gaining entrance into the premises of Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano.(FCAPT)

Adding that the defendants have forcefully imposed Dr. Mohammed Yushau Gwaram as the provost of the school, irrespective of a subsisting order of the court which directed all the parties to maintain the status quo.

The plaintiff stated that the actions exhibited by the defendants are an outright disregard of an order of the court, irrespective of the fact the parties have all been duly served with copies of the court order.

The plaintiffs said, “This is a knock for the respect  of the rule of law, we seek  for committal proceedings against the trio.”
