Malam Muhammad Tijjani, chairman of the Dorayi security committee, explained that they discussed the insecurity menace extensively and developed a framework to address it.

Tijjani expressed concern that most thugs terrorizing the communities are under 35, and instead of being positive ambassadors, they cause trouble.

He noted that responsible individuals now hesitate to marry their daughters due to the thuggery acts, which threaten the future of their children, especially girls.

He cited an instance where a groom’s relatives refused to attend a wedding in Dorayi until the location was changed.

The ward head of Dorayi Karama, represented by Umar Shehu, pledged traditional rulers’ support for peace efforts.

He condemned politicians who secure bail for arrested thugs, allowing them to celebrate their release.

Dr. Abdullahi Idris Danfodiyo, a resident, highlighted the lack of unity and assistance for injured community members, leading to a decline in participation.

He welcomed the initiative to sanitize the area and deal with the culprits to restore the community’s reputation. He urged the new police commissioner, Salman Dogo, to reject bail requests for thugs caught in the act.

It can also be recalled that the former police commissioner, Usaini Gumel, who promised to establish an Anti-Daba office in the area and deployed the police Anti-Daba squad, which is no longer present.
