Jubilation  as Tinubu Appoints Danagundi as DG of National Productivity Centre

Jubilation erupts in Kano over the appointment of Baffa Babba Danagundi as the Director General of the National Productivity Centre by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Danagundi who heads the Directorate of All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council Support Groups in the North West is a highly experienced grassroots mobilizer and a dogged politician who was formerly the Managing Director of Kano Roads Traffic Agency KAROTA.

A member of the defunct ACN, he has served as Majority Leader and Chief Whip of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Kano Municipal Constituency between 2015 and 2019 where he exhibited high qualities of leadership.

He was a Senior Special Assistant to then-governor Ibrahim Shekarau on Youth Development and former Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Garment Industries.

Baffa Babba Danagundi is a capacity personified, his good track record while serving KAROTA as its Managing Director was the reason why then-governor Ganduje appointed him as Acting Director General of Kano Consumer Protection Council.

His appointment saw the speedy redress of consumer complaints and end the unscrupulous exploitation of consumers. Danagundi championed consumer interests at an appropriate forums.

A close ally of Ganduje, he was the convener of the historic one million match in support of the presidential bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kano, a gathering that has shocked political opponents in the state.

“This is an appointment too many, this is the best appointment from Kano by Mr President.

Of all the appointments made so far, this is the right one that will be impactful to the people.

Baffa is a result-oriented person, he has delivered in all the positions he held”. Said Nasiru Usman Naibawa, a former special adviser to Governor Ganduje on support groups.

On her part, a women leader Hajiya Aisha Adam hailed President Tinubu for appointing Danagundi into into his government.

“We are highly excited over this appointment, Danagundi has been carrying women along in party affairs.

He is supportive of women and this can be testimonial from the mobilisations and gatherings he has convened”. She said

Mr. Danagundi also bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Bayero University, Kano

YPP Chairman Commends Kano Governor for Intervening in Two Remote Villages

The Chairman of the Young Progressives Party in Kano, Barrister SS Umar, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for intervening in two remote villages, Danshayi in Rimin Gado Local Government and Gishiri Wuya in Warawa Local Government Area, due to the lack of schools and roads in the area.

The YPP Chairman made the commendation while addressing newsmen in Kano.

He said, “I learned that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf heard the plight of the two communities over Arewa Radio regarding the lack of schools and good roads. The governor’s prompt intervention was timely.”

When the governor heard the information, he immediately dispatched the state commissioner of education to assess the place, which is a commendable initiative.

Barrister SS Umar added that the allocation of 31 percent to education for the 2025 fiscal year is a welcome development.

Sarkin Shanono Confers Traditional Title of Giwar Shanono to Dr. Amina A. Sadiq

The Sarkin Shanono in Kano North, Northwestern Nigeria, has conferred the title of Giwar Shanono to Dr. Amina Al Sadiq, a philanthropist and founder of the non-governmental organization Captain Guidance and Counseling Foundation (CGC’p).

The ceremony, which took place at Shanono town in the palace of Sarkin Shanono on Friday, was attended by dignitaries from many parts of Kano State, including Dr. Amina’s friends, on Friday, November 9, 2024.

Apart from heading the foundation, Dr. Amina is a veteran journalist and a university lecturer, which enables her to offer philanthropic gestures.

Sarkin Shanono said Dr. Amina was chosen due to her diligence and steadfastness in doing what she stood for, especially doing good for society.

In her remarks, Dr. Amina thanked Sarkin Shanono for the gesture and vowed to continue doing her best in serving humanity.

Part of her engagement is public enlightenment for people across the world related to their lives. This includes marriage counseling, lifestyle advice, community projects, public enlightenment programs, catering services programs, personal hygiene counseling, and interior decoration ideas.**

Gov. Yusuf, Falana SAN, Secure the Release of 71 Kano Minors Arrested During August Protest

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been unwavering in his commitment to securing the release of the teenagers, vowing to pursue all legal avenues to ensure their freedom.

In a statement, issued by governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of human rights advocates, including renowned lawyer Femi Falana SAN, and others who fought tirelessly to secure the minors’ release.

“The Federal Government has today withdrawn the treason charges against the minors, who were primarily from Kano State.

“This is a victory for justice and human dignity,” said Barr. Suleiman Dantsoho, one of the human rights lawyers representing the teenagers.

He went on to praise Governor Yusuf for his dedication to the cause, noting that the Governor’s leadership and advocacy had been instrumental in ensuring the teenagers’ freedom.

“We commend Governor Abba Yusuf for his unwavering support and commitment to human rights and the dignity of his people,” Dantsoho added.

The teenagers are set to be formally handed over to Governor Yusuf by Vice President Kashim Shettima later today, before being flown back to Kano via Max Air.

This landmark decision underscores the importance of safeguarding the rights of individuals, especially minors, and demonstrates the power of legal advocacy in the face of injustice.
