Jigawa Governor Appoints VC for Jigawa Varsity

Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi has approved the appointment of Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai as the new Vice-Chancellor of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa (SLU).

This information was conveyed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim.

The statement mentioned that the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor followed recommendations from the Governing Council of the University, as stipulated by the law establishing the University.

Before his appointment, Professor Yakasai served as the Chairman of the Departmental Quality Assurance Committee at Bayero University, Kano, and holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.

The new Vice-Chancellor has teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, demonstrating significant quality supervision and valuable interdisciplinary collaboration.

He boasts a strong track record of research, evident in the quality of his papers in peer-reviewed journals. Apart from his core area of education, he has researched strategies for human resource management in local government administration.
A former Dean of Post Graduate at Bayero University, Professor Yakasai has showcased academic leadership and contributed to community service.

He has previously held positions as Head of Department, Deputy Dean of the Student Affairs Department, and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the same institution.

Born in Garun Gabas, Malam Madori Local Government Area, in 1960, Professor Yakasai earned his first degree from Bayero University, Kano, graduating with a B.A. Ed (Education/History) in 1986. He further obtained an M.Ed. (Educational Psychology) in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in 2000 from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Joining the services of Bayero University, Kano in 1991, he ascended from lecturer to Dean before being appointed as Chairman of the Departmental Quality Assurance Committee at Bayero University, Kano in 2021.

He holds the title of Professor of Educational Psychology and is a member of the Nigeria Academy of Education and the Counseling Association of Nigeria.

The statement indicated that the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor takes effect from 5th December 2023.

Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial District, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state for approving N2.5bn to revive the Kafin-Chiri irrigation scheme.

Senator Sumaila in a statement he signed, said the scheme will significantly contribute to the enhancement of agricultural productivity in the state.

“The extension of the Kano irrigation scheme around Garko Sumaila axis is a pivotal initiative that will create over 500 direct and indirect job opportunities, thereby uplifting livelihoods and promoting economic growth.

“The project’s dedication to bolstering food production in Kano state deserves praise as it underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and prosperity for its citizens.

“I am therefore, encouraging farmers in the region to seize this opportunity and leverage the reactivated irrigation scheme to increase their agricultural output.

“I urged the farming community to collaborate with the authorities, embrace modern farming techniques, and capitalize on this generous gesture by the government.

The senator assured that by working hand in hand with the government, farmers in the area can maximize the benefits of the reactivated irrigation scheme to propel Kano State towards greater agricultural self-sufficiency and prosperity.

Arewa APC Merger Group Promises to Stop Alleged Politically Motivated Protests in Nigeria.

The Arewa APC Merger Group has issued a stern warning against a series of politically motivated protests allegedly sponsored by individuals and groups agitated by separatist agendas.

According to the group, these protests are orchestrated by enemies of Nigeria who aim to destabilize the nation’s unity.

In a statement signed by Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, the National Coordinator of the group, the Arewa APC Merger Group and made available to press emphasized their commitment to supporting the current APC government.

The statement, issued in Abuja, expressed the group’s resolve to counter any protest efforts intended to sow discord and undermine national cohesion.

They accused a prominent political figure, as strongly associated with these protests.

Despite his public denials, the Arewa APC Merger Group has declared his involvement “unacceptable.”

They accuse him and his supporters of attempting to manipulate public sentiment for political gain.They stated that the denial of political figured hands in plan protest cannot be accepted because there is sign of hands of some of his supporters in the affairs.

They warned him against any statement that will lead in causing of what Will lead to instability to the nation

“The Arewa youths are steadfast in their allegiance to the APC government,” Zaitawa stated.

The group called on all Nigerians to reject any actions that threaten the nation’s unity and to stand together in support of the government.

Dangote Refinery :Kwankwaso Calls for National Protection of the Vital Asset

NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso expressed his admiration for the dedication and quality that went into establishing Dangote Refinery .

Senator Kwankwaso stated this when he visited the refinery said , “I was privileged to visit the magnificent Dangote Refinery, and I was marveled by the sheer commitment that went into the quality of its establishment.”

The 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery, a cornerstone for Nigeria’s energy needs and economic stability, was hailed by Kwankwaso as a vital national asset that must be safeguarded from any threats.

He emphasized the importance of the refinery, stating, “This 650,000 bpd refinery is essential for our energy needs and economic stability, and it must be protected from all forms of threat.”
