Former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Right Hon. Ghali Umar Na’abba, has commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his plans to distribute palliatives to Nigerians with the aim of reducing the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.

Ghali Na’abba, who is the grand patron of the Coalition of Arewa Youths and Elders group, applauded President Tinubu’s efforts to distribute eight thousand naira to over twelve million people across the country.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Grand Patron of the Coalition of Arewa Youths and Elders, Hon. Ghali Umar Na’abba, and the Convener, Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, and made available to the press.

According to them, there is a need for President Tinubu to ensure transparency and accountability in the distribution of the palliatives so that they can reach the masses at the grassroots who are largely affected by the removal of fuel subsidies.

“We advise President Tinubu to distribute the palliatives according to the population, so that the highly populated regions receive a larger percentage.”

“We wish to draw President Tinubu’s attention to the tuition fee increment by federal universities in the current situation where the majority of Nigerians are struggling to find enough to eat. Indeed, these universities are sabotaging Tinubu and his government. Therefore, he should not take this for granted.”

The Coalition of Arewa Youths and Elders reassured their total support for the APC and Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, promising to work assiduously with all APC stakeholders to ensure the success of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

BREAKING: Military Confirms Plot to Oust Tinubu, Officers to Face Trial

By Yusuf Danjuma Yunusa

The Nigerian military high command has confirmed that a group of its officers plotted to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.

This admission follows a months-long investigation into reports, first emerging in October 2025, that officers from the rank of Captain to Brigadier-General had been arrested and detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) over the alleged coup attempt.

The military’s statement, issued on Monday by the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Samaila Uba, comes in response to a media report detailing how a panel that probed the arrested officers had submitted its findings to the President.

In the statement, Major-General Uba confirmed that the investigation had been concluded and the report forwarded to the “appropriate superior authority.”

“The findings have identified a number of the officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government which is inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the AFN (Armed Forces of Nigeria),” Uba stated.

He announced that “those with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before an appropriate military judicial panel to face trial in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.”

Uba explained that the public disclosure was made to ensure accountability while upholding “the principles of fairness and due process.” He emphasised that the measures are “purely disciplinary” and part of institutional efforts to “preserve order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks.”

“The Armed Forces remain resolute in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority,” the statement concluded.
