Top Industry Players to Discuss Role of Halal Industry in Reviving Global Economy

Top industry players, policy makers and experts in the Halal industry will convene in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt to discuss the role of Halal industry in creating economic opportunities and reviving the global economy.

The experts will gather in Egypt during the IsDB Group Private Sector Forum on the sidelines of the 47th Islamic Development Bank’s Annual Meeting. The theme of the side event is: Rejuvenating Halal Economy, Creating Economic Opportunities. The discussion will take place at 10am on 4th June 2022.

The Halal economy is estimated to grow to US$3.2 Trillion by 2024. It is an industry that is quite diverse with products ranging from foods and beverages, pharmaceuticals, tourism, cosmetics, media etc.

Speakers at the high-level event include IsDB Vice President (Operations), Dr. Mansur Muhtar, IsDB Acting Director General (Global Practice and Partnership), Mr. Amer Bukvic; Mr. Hanisofian Alias, Chief Industry Development officer,  Halal Development Corporation, Malaysia; Mr. Amel Kovacevic, CEO, United Bank of Albania; Ms. Yvonne Maffei, Founder, Halal Kitchen, USA; Mr. Tomás Guerrero Blanco, Director at Halal Trade and Marketing Centre and Dr. Angitto Abimanyu, Chairman, Indonesia Hajj Fund.

Dr. Mansur Muhtar, Vice-President (Operations) at IsDB stated: “The halal industry has enormous potential. By tapping into opportunities offered by the Halal economy we can create more jobs and support the effort of our member countries to revive their economies following the devasting impact of COVID-19. This is also in line with the strategic objectives of the realigned strategy of Islamic Development Bank.”

I Stand by My Comment on NSA Ribadu  – Najaatu

A fiery and fearless politician from Northern Nigeria, Hajiya Najaatu Muhammad, says she stands by her political comment on Nigeria’s National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, who labeled President Tinubu as the most corrupt Governor during his days as EFCC chairman.

Najaatu stated this in an interview with a local radio station in Kano, Premier Radio, that she still stands by her comment on what NSA Ribadu said about President Tinubu many years ago.

The fearless politician said if NSA Nuhu Ribadu feels he can take legal action as he claimed, he can take her up to the Supreme Court. She said Nuhu Ribadu’s claim on labeling President Tinubu as the most corrupt is there on social media or YouTube for everybody to access, as such, she is not retracting her statement.

NiMet Predicts Early Rainfall Events Across Most Parts Of The Country, As Keyamo Unveils 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction

 

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, on Tuesday, 4th February 2025 in Abuja, unveiled the 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) to the public.

Themed ‘The Role of Early Warnings towards a Climate Resilient Aviation Industry for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development’, the SCP document predicts that most parts of the country will experience significant
rainfall events at the beginning of 2025, and these rains will likely come before the onset.

The onset of rain is predicted to be delayed over the northern and central states of Plateau as well as parts of Kaduna, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kwara. While early onset is expected over the southern states of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Anambra, and sections of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Enugu, Imo, and Ebonyi. The rest of the country is predicted to have a normal onset.

President Tinubu Signs Bill Establishing North-Central Development Commission

President Bola Tinubu has signed a bill to create the North-Central Development Commission.

This was made public on Tuesday by Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, who announced the signing of the bill during plenary.

However, he didn’t give details on when the bill was assented to by the president.

Akpabio said, “Let me also inform my colleagues that Mr. President has also assented to the North-Central Development Commission establishment bill 2024, in order to bring development to the grassroots.

“And for this, we congratulate, the good people of the North-Central region of Nigeria, and we wish them more development and particularly peace, as we forge ahead in the task of nation-building.”

His announcement comes a day after the president assented to a bill establishing a federal university of environmental technology in Ogoni, Rivers state
