The Senator representing Kano North, Barau I. Jibrin has described stories in a section of the media on his meeting over the weekend with Abdulaziz Ganduje, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s son as a fake news.

It can be  recalled that over the weekend , the social media and some online publications were awash with story of a meeting between Abdulaziz Ganduje and Senator Barau Jibrin with insinuations that the meeting was to prevail on the federal lawmaker to drop his gubernatorial aspiration.

The story suggested that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje sent his son to meet Barau Jibrin to still contest for the senate in 2023 rather than the governorship seat.

Barau Jibrin is a member of the G7 faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC)  in Kano.

The faction has been in a running battle with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje group over the affairs of the party that led to parallel congresses and court issues.

Shittu Madaki Kunchi said Barau Jibrin who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriation was not even in Kano over the weekend as stated by the fake news story.

By Salisu Baso

As the crisis erupted within Kano’s ruling party NNPP, with some members calling for the governor to stand independently, the Kano State House of Assembly has denied knowledge of any of its members being involved in the rifts.

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawan Hussain, representing Dala Constituency, revealed this to newsmen in an interview with journalists over the publication of an online newspaper, Daily Nigeria, stating that some members of the NNPP in the House have joined the factional crisis.

He described the news as a fabricated and mischievous story from unpatriotic elements planning to destroy the peace reigning within the party. He said that as far as the members of the House are concerned, there are no conflicts between the governor and the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The Majority Leader therefore assured the party parliament members of their solid support for the leader of the Kwankwasiyya and state governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, adding that the governor considers Senator Kwankwaso his mentor.

On the issue of some party members calling for the governor to be independent (Tsaya da Kafar Ka), Hon. Dala said the governor is operating independently without interference from any person. He therefore accused some opposition politicians from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, of sponsoring unpatriotic people to ignite a crisis in the state with a view to disrupting the government’s development initiatives.

“Considering the economic situation in the North, we urge the Federal Government to show compassion and release the detained minors, taking into account their age and circumstances. We also call on the government to provide support for their rehabilitation and education.

“In partnership with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders, NWYSF will develop sensitization initiatives focusing on empowering youths with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, promoting understanding and respect for human rights and teaching alternative dispute resolution methods.

“In view of the above, by working together, we can prevent similar incidents and foster a more informed, peaceful, and inclusive society,” the statement added.
