Youth Sleeping On Kano Streets Rising -Human Rights Lawyer

A Human rights lawyer Barrister Abba Hikima has raised an alarm over number of adult youth Sleeping on the streets of Kano.

Barrister Abba Hikima stated this on his verified Facebook page against the backdrop of crimes ravaging the city of Kano.

Barrister Abba Hikima noted that there are many settlements in Kano where you find many youth including men and women sleeping on the streets of Kano and their origin can not be traced.

He mentioned the areas as Tudun Yola,some parts of Nassarawa GRA closed to Kano Golf Club,The Fagge area and many other parts of the state.

Abba Hikima added that the youth which include women and children whose origin can not be traced said something must be done to trace where they came from.

According to the legal practitioner when they were interviewed majority of the homeless people sleeping on those streets will not tell you where they come from.

He also said apart from women and children who sleep on the streets of the state is there are other young women between age 14 to above who roam the the state and even if they are arrested by security agents no one can come and claim they are his relatives and as a result of that they continue to languish in various security cells across the state.

“As some people said Kano and Nigeria is on time Bomb something must be done to arrest the situation as they constitute nuisance and a security risk to the society”

He noted that major and minor offences are committed by strangers seizing the opportunity of the homeless individuals sleeping on the streets of the state.

Barrister Abba said all hands must be on deck to put a stop to the menace especially politicians and well to do individuals to rid the state of crime .

The presidential hopeful of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, vowed today at the party’s national convention in Abuja to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with the support of Nigerians.

The party’s convention today officially unveiled the NDC as the country’s second most vibrant opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

With both Mr. Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the NDC, and Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Hayatu-Deen in the ADC, the political atmosphere is set for a power play in 2027.

INEC Monitors NDC Convention, Confirms Due Process as NWC Members Sworn In

At the national convention of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) today, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to monitor the electioneering process of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The presence of the Commission’s officials has put an end to the debate over whether the NDC followed due process in its registration as a political party.

 

Furthermore, the officials’ presence has boosted the morale of Nigerians seeking a credible platform to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

 

At the end of the convention, the elected NWC members of the party were sworn in right there, in the presence of the officials.
