Edo 2020:Athletes, Coaches , Journalists , Fans Scuffle With Security Operatives Over been Barred From Kickboxing Event

Security operatives on Wednesday, afternoon barred technical officials, athletes , sports writers and accompanying officials from gaining access into Samuel Ogbemudia multi purpose hall, venue of kickboxing matches at the ongoing National Sports Festival NSF 2020.

The security operatives , who were acting under strict instructions from officials of Nigeria “s Kickboxing governing body placed the doors to the arena under locks and keys.

Trouble began when the kickboxing officials, after the match between Kano and Oyo in the 54 kg directed security operatives to evacuate the facility.

Coaches, athletes, sports Journalists and fans were all ordered to exit from the facility .

The directive to vacate the venue were strongly challenged by the affected persons leading to rowdy sessions.

Athletes and coaches seeking access to compete in the next fight were not spared.
A security operatives (name withheld) would not explained the reason behind the reason.

A top kick boxing official would equally not explained the reason behind the directive, when quizzed over the instruction given to security operatives, the official said “nobody is allowed to come in only those that are going to fight.”

The situation got out of hands, when a fighter from Edo was also denied access , the home fans began to exhibit impatience, they dared the operatives.

“are you the ones to do the fighting, why are you trying to create troubles , you want to spoil the fun, you stopped athletes , coaches and we the fans , what do you people want.” the gathered crowd yelled.

Journalists were also asked to leave the venue , they resisted the order, resulting into a subtle disagreement between they and those enforcing the directives.

Our correspondent , who witnessed the ugly exchanges reports that the crowd at the entrance of the hall seized an ample opportunity to force their way into the arena overpowering the security personnel stationed at the entrance .

Our correspondent further reports that as at when filling this report normalcy has returned to the multi purpose hall.

Sultan of Sokoto Urges Nigerians to Stop Criticizing Leaders and Allow God to Deal With Them

Nigerians have been urged to desist from castigating their leaders and all those in authority.

This call was made to Nigerians by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III on Monday at the the Regional Conference on Climate Change-Induced Conflicts in Northern Nigeria hosted in Kaduna.

According to the Sultan, it is important that Nigerians rather than insult their leaders, they should allow God to really with them.

He also urgee Nigerians to contibue praying for their keaders and tne nation as a whole.

He further called on religious leadera accros Nigeria to quit misleadinh members of ghwir congregation.

“A lot of people say we have never had it so bad, but no matter how difficult it is, ease will come. We believe nothing lasts forever.

“Nothing bad and nothing good lasts forever. Let us intensify prayers in our congregations and encourage our followers to pray for our leaders.

“We will not castigate them; we will allow Almighty Allah to deal with them as He wishes and He will,” the Sultan notes.

Breaking: Court Drops Charges Against Minors

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday struck out the charges brought against a total of 119 #EndBadGovernance protesters.

All 119 protesters were arraigned on Friday, November 1 on charges bordering on Treason felony, inciting to mutiny, among others.

The defendants were arraigned in two batches at the previous proceeding.

The first batch comprised a total of 76 protesters which included 32 minors and the second batch a total of 43 protesters.

The trial judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, struck out the suit following an application by the counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, M. D Abubakar, to take over and discontinue the matter.
