Speaker Lauds BACYWORD For Promoting Entrepreneurship In Bauchi

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly has lauded the initiatives and interventions of Bauchi State Commission for Youth and Women Rehabilitation and Development (BACYWORD) in promoting entrepreneurship in Bauchi State.

 

He was speaking during the closing ceremony of a 5-day training for participants under AGSMEIS/NIRSAL loan and entrepreneurship scheme organized by the Commission in Bauchi on Friday.

 

The Speaker, who described entrepreneurship as the most viable way to boost the economy of the State, lamented that people lack capital and funding to start-up businesses or improve existing ones.

“This AGSMEIS/NIRSAL loan and entrepreneurship will definitely help many people in Bauchi State to create and improve businesses and occupations.

 

” I hope that the participants will make use of what they learnt here so as to enhance their businesses, mentor and train others so as to help in reviving the economy of the State.

“I so much cherish entrepreneurship and I have been assisting and providing support to engage in it even before I join politics because this is the most effective way to help the well being of people,” The Speaker said.

 

The Speaker who distributed certificates of participation to the participants urged them not to misuse the loan when accessed by making spendings on non-profitable ventures because the loan is meant for entrepreneurship and is not free as erroneously perceived in some quarters.

 

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman stressed the need for economic diversification by all and sundry in the State due to the fact that the Government cannot provide everything.

 

He commended Governor Bala Mohammad for supporting the initiative and many economic revival policies in Bauchi State which he described as unprecedented.

 

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman urged the Chairman of the Commission maintain the tempo of helping Governor Bala Mohammad in achieving his economic goals pledging that Bauchi State House of Assembly we remain supportive to the initiatives of the Commission and the Executive Arm of Government in salvaging the economic situation of the State.

 

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Commission Alhaji Tanko Yusuf Dutse told the Speaker that the entrepreneurship support programme is an effort by CBN aimed at addressing the worrisome phenomenon of unemployment in Nigeria by building the capacity of the youths/women and funding their business ideas.

According to him, the programme is aimed at equipping many people with the requisite skills and knowledge to be self-employed by starting and managing their own businesses and participants ware drawn from talented aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and above, with innovative ideas.

 

He thanked the Speaker for honouring the event and the support of Bauchi State House of Assembly to the Commission and to Governor Bala Mohammad.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially welcomed former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso into its fold, touting his defection as a pivotal move that strengthens a growing coalition for political realignment in Nigeria.

In a statement released for immediate effect, the party described Kwankwaso as a “game-changer,” announcing that he has directed his network of supporters nationwide to join the ADC. According to the party, this call has already triggered a significant uptick in registrations on its online platform over the past 24 hours.

The ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, framed the defection as part of a broader recognition among Nigerians of the need for a credible political alternative. The statement emphasized Kwankwaso’s experience in governance, grassroots influence, and capacity to unify as assets to the party’s ambition to “rebuild Nigeria.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Resigns to Pursue Bauchi Governorship Election

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has resigned from his position in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pursue the governorship of Bauchi State in the 2027 election.

Tuggar submitted his resignation on Monday, in compliance with a presidential directive requiring all political appointees with electoral ambitions to vacate their posts by the March 31, 2026, deadline.

The directive, issued through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, aligns with Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It affects ministers, advisers, and heads of federal agencies intending to contest in the 2027 general elections.

Reports have it that his resignation positions him to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bauchi State gubernatorial race.

Tuggar’s entry is expected to significantly reshape the state’s political landscape, intensifying an already competitive contest for the APC nomination. Kwankwaso Officially Joins ADC

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and ex-Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress.

The former Minister of Defence also registered with the party and received his membership card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano.
