Banditry :30 Thousand Katsina Children Are Out Of School

Not fewer than 30,000 children are out of school in Katsina state due activities of bandits.

The Senior Special Assistant on banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (lDP), Saidu lbrahim Danja disclosed this to newsmen in KATSINA.

Danja said the figure was obtained after an assessment conducted by his office and State Universal Basic Education Board.

According to him, Katsina state government has commenced sending back the affected children to school and provide them with writing materials.

Danja further explained that currently, the state has 252, 000 displaced persons due banditry, adding that: “We inherited 278, 000 displaced persons at time we took over from previous administration.

He added that, “The figure reduced to 252,000 as peace gradually returned in the affected areas.”.

Danja said for fear of possible attack by the bandits, government has closed down about 52 health facilities.

He added that the government is working with eight international organisations to improve living standard of those affected by banditry.

He said the organisations are also assisting for the return of peace in Katsina.

FRCN Kaduna Listeners Urge Federal Government to Ensure Adequate Funding Amid Power Disconnections

The federal government has been urged to give priority attention to it’s media organizations by ensuring adequate funding for sustainable information flow.

A cross section of FRCN kaduna listeners who spoke with our Reporter in kaduna expressed disappointment over incessant power disconnections of the station by kaduna electric distribution company.

They noted that the disconnection is getting too much as such something needs to be done urgently to address the situation.

One of those who spoke Musa Mohammed kawo observed that the Radio station has paid it’s due in view of it’s contribution to unity and religious harmony not only of the northern part of the country but also e country as a whole.

According to him, despite the challenges being faced by the station it still has a role to play in enlightening and educating the citizenry on government policies and program as such shouldn’t be allowed to collapse.

Another listener Mal Abdullahi Zaria who commended the minister of information and national orientation for his various intervention on the issue said a lot still needs to be done on addressing the problem.

Similarity another listener Bello soba said he was surprised to tune in the to the station today to find it off air because of disconnections by kedco and called on the authorities concerned to take decisive actions against the occurrence of the situation .

Our Reporter in Kaduna reports that this is the fifth time the station was being disconnected over problem of electricity bill payment in the last one Year.

Gbenga Olawepo Hashim Receives Rare Nelson Mandela Letter as Birthday Gift

A former presidential candidate and global energy leader, Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, has received a surprise birthday gift from friends and associates in Europe, in celebration of birthday.

In a surprise birthday launch, hosted at the ancient Circulo delicio, the oldest private club in Spain, established in 1847, business partners of Gbenga Olawepo Hashim presented a personal letter of legendary South African leader, Nelson Mendela purchased at an Auction in Europe to him as a birthday gift.

Olawepo Hashim, who considered Nelson Mendela as one of his heroes, was equally named Prisoner of Conscience in Africa, 3 years after Nelson Mendela was so named by Amnesty International in 1989.

Narrating the surprised birthday launch hosted in his honour on his social media Facebook page, Gbenga Olawepo Hashim said, “In Barcelona, I had lunch with Vincent Geuneau (my French Business Partner), Mrs Helen Brume, a director at Afrexim Bank, Cairo, and Mrs Begonia Rubo Saiz, Ex Spanish Diplomat and Ex European Commission staffer. Begonia has joined my team as Senior Advisor, Global Cooperation.”

According to him, a twist of history was added to the celebration as Vincent and Peter Hertog (My Deuch Business Partner) presented a personal letter of Nelson Mandela purchased at an Auction in Europe to me.

“The duo know Mandela as one of my heroes, and that I had been named Prisoner of Conscience in Africa, three years after Mandela was so named by Amnesty International in 1989”. He said.

Gbenga Hashim Foundation, recently granted N20Million to SME’s in Kwara State, constructed drainages and graded roads.

It also granted N10Million to SME’s in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.

Breaking:Bandits Abduct Mother Of Popular Hausa Singer

Halima Adamu, the mother of the well-known Hausa singer Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara, has been kidnapped.

The abduction occurred at her home in Kahutu village, Danja local government area, Katsina State, according to a local source.

The source reported that the bandits entered the village around 1 a.m. on Friday and kidnapped the elderly woman.

The bandits arrived on foot and quietly, without firing a single shot during the operation, which lasted only a few minutes. The woman did not resist when they asked her to come with them,” the source stated..

Although there were other people in the house, the bandits only took Rarara’s mother, leaving the others behind. There was no attempt to confront the armed bandits.”

They likely parked their motorcycles some distance away and walked to the village. We are praying for her safe return because she is very important to us. Her son, Rarara, has been extremely generous, bringing numerous developments to our village.”

Attempts to contact the famous Hausa singer by phone have been unsuccessful, as his calls went unanswered.
