Association Of Nigerian Old Students In Sudan, Demands Justice For Damazin Crisis Victims

Sudan old student association of Nigeria (SOSAN) has expressed concerned over the recent crisis in Ad-Damazin Region, the capital city of Blue Nile, Sudan , which resulted in killing and destruction of a minority group that lived peacefully for centuries with its host community.

The association lamented this situation at a news conference in Kano on Sunday .

Tribal clashes between two ethnic groups led to the killing of dozens of people in Sudan’s Blue Nile State, Ad-Damazin.

 

The clashes sparked in the three localities of Gaissan, Roseiris and Wad Al-Mahi, following the murder of one person during an argument between two people from two tribal groups.

The incident was said to have taken place as tensions increased recently in the region following calls to recognize a chiefdom for an ethnic group that originate from Nigeria but settled in the region for a long time.

Chairman of the association, and Assistant Imam of Al-furqan Mosques in Kano, Imam Aliyu Abdulkadir, urged the Sudanese Authorities to ensure Justice for the victims against their oppressors with the same speed the crisis was was brought under control.

 

Abdulkadir also called on the Sudanese Government to help the displaced persons to find succour and return to their homes and normal life

 

He also called on Nigerian government and the United Nations to assist Sudanese Authorities in resettling and rehabilitating the innocent victims of the conflict and bring to book the culprits.
