The leadership of Dawanau International Grains Market has applauded the Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) for the creation of a multimillion-naira network expansion project towards improving power supply in their area.
The Chairman, Dawanau Market Development Association, Alhaji Muttaqa Isa, extolled Kano DISCO’s giant stride during an appreciation visit to KEDCO head office in Kano, yesterday.
Alhaji Muttaqa also disclosed that the project, when completed, would enhance market operations and foster economic growth in the state.
He said: “we are grateful to KEDCO for mobilising engineers to site and commencing the project. We are confident that this project will alleviate our longstanding power challenges, ensuring smoother operations for our members.”
“We are convinced that KEDCO is now better poised to achieve excellence with a crop of experienced and visionary leaders on the Board and Management” he added.
It would be recalled that KEDCO recently announced a transformative investment and committed a staggering 1.2bn naira towards network expansion and improvement in power infrastructure and electricity supply to the underserved Dawanau International Grains Market in Kano.
Responding, KEDCO’s MD/CEO, Abubakar Yusuf reaffirmed his dedication to improving service delivery, underscoring the strategic importance of Dawanau Market in the region’s economic landscape.
Yusuf also hinted that the partnership between Dawanau Market and KEDCO marks a significant step towards sustainable development, promising brighter prospects for businesses and stakeholders within one of Nigeria’s foremost commercial hubs.
KEDCO boss also re-echoed the investors’ resolve to revolutionise electricity distribution, saying that a contract has already been awarded for a 1MW embedded generation in the Dawanau area, to augment the grid supply and ensure quality and reliable power supply to the area.
In a statement signed by Head of corporate communications Sani Bala said they further called on the market management to complement KEDCO’s efforts in safeguarding all power infrastructures in their areas, especially as vandalisation has become rampant, lately.
