In a significant breakthrough, NNPC Ltd, through negotiations spearheaded by Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream, has successfully brokered a peace deal between Total Energies and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN), along with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
The consensus, reached on Sunday, brings an end to the lingering dispute and has led to the immediate restoration of 275,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) production. This marks a crucial development for the Nigerian oil industry.
The communique issued at the conclusion of the extensive negotiation session outlines the commitment of all involved parties to address and resolve the issues at hand within a mutually agreed framework.
Signatories to the communique include Mr. Matthieu Bouyer, MD/CEO of Total Energies, Comrade Festus Osifo, President of PENGASSAN, and Comrade Williams Akporeha, President of NUPENG. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, EVP Upstream of NNPC Ltd, and Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS). Mr. Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director of Total Energies, was also present at the event.
The peace deal not only resolves the immediate industrial action but also establishes a framework for addressing broader issues, contributing to a more stable and cooperative environment in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
