Zainab Salihu Usman, speaking on behalf of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), addressed the media on Thursday, highlighting the importance of digital rights in Nigeria. She outlined several challenges facing the digital space, including censorship, internet shutdowns, privacy violations, and cybercrime.

Usman urged the incoming administration to prioritize the passage of the Digital Rights and Freedoms Bill, which would provide comprehensive data protection and prevent abuse of personal data. She also called for the government to ensure internet freedom, strengthen cybersecurity measures, and prioritize digital literacy initiatives.

The CITAD representative believes that implementing these actions will create a more open, free, and secure digital space for all citizens, leading to better investment opportunities for both Nigerians and foreign investors
