Kano Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged journalists and media owners to prioritize credibility and fairness in their reporting, while also advocating for the protection of free speech rights around the world. His remarks came as the world marked Press Freedom Day.

In his message to members of the media, Engr. Abba emphasized the need for credible reportage to preserve the media’s respectability and watchdog role in holding political office holders accountable. He called on leaders at all levels to protect the rights of media practitioners and support a free press.

Engr. Abba also pledged to work with the media to promote accountability and good governance in Kano State through objective, fair and balanced reporting. He assured journalists that his administration would prioritize press freedom while upholding decency and ethical standards in the profession.
