An emergency meeting held by the Social Integrity Network (SINET), a civil society group in Nigeria, has called for national concern and immediate intervention over the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development’s attempt to initiate the concession and final trade-out of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and Itakpe Iron Ore Company. The group is worried about the short timeline for the completion of the process, which is only four weeks before the expiration of the current administration. They are also concerned about the lack of thorough legislative processes and stakeholder contributions in the concession of national heritages. The group has called for the intervention of various government bodies to halt the process and ensure national interest is considered
