In a goodwill message to Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr celebration, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the peaceful outcome of the 2023 general elections will go down on record as one of the proudest achievements of his administration.
Buhari explained that the outcome of the elections was in line with his pledge to leave a legacy of free and fair elections. He added that free and fair elections are the only principles that give credibility to Nigeria’s democracy, and the subversion of the will of the people undermines democracy itself.
The President also congratulated Muslims on successfully completing the Ramadan fast, praying to Allah to reward them for their sacrifices. He advised Nigerians not to forget the important lessons of Ramadan, including improving their bond with underprivileged and poor members of society.
