The announcement of Abba Kabir Yusuf (Abba Gida-Gida) as the Governor elect on 20th April, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), resulted to a blended feelings of joy and sadness in the state.

Kano is one of the most populous state in the country (if not the most populous). Therefore, losing the state will certainly cause a deftly slap on any party. And for the party that wins, the opposite is the case.

On one hand, NNPP supporters who suffered the thirst of leadership for approximately eight years, were thrilled with the elections results. Albeit, the panic that permeated  their minds at the eve of the result declaration could be portrayed through the ‘subhi’ that was led by Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, at the INEC state headquarters.

On the other hand, APC frontliners were electrified with the result, due to the driving force of power and resources that enclosed thier mind in a  confine vicinity of self deception. In most of their congregations before the elections, they were on the  believe that the opposition has the majority, but with the power of government the election would be in their favour.

On a neutral ground, one can see clearly the factors that favoured NNPP and give APC the unfortunate hit. And and amongst are:

1. The nemesis of the perpetrated acts of Gawuna and Garo at Gama Collation Centre, 2019 Gubernatorial election.

2. His betrayal to his long time boss (Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso).

3. Land encroachment by the APC’s present administration.

4. Dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi by Ganduje.

5. Defalcation of public fund (Dollar saga).

6. Poor remuneration for civil servants at months end.

7. Mischievous act of the Principal.

8. Inflammatory utterances from APC’s stakeholders

9. Insufficient political prowess and many more.

Now, speculations are spreading day and night on the genuines of the electoral process by APC member. They are in the believe that the whole process was marred by irregularities such as over voting, rigging,  unnecessary cancellations etc. Therefore, without an iota of doubt, Abba Kabir Yusuf will be flushed out of the office at the end of the court proceedings.

However, many political analysts are of the believe that APC is just formulating a strategy to tethered their members with  ropes of fallacies, in order not to lose its popularity in the state.
