Kano House of Assembly has urged the state government to, as a matter of urgency, assist victims of fire outbreaks at Dawaki Gabas, in Dawakin Tofa local government area of the state.

This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public interest by Alhaji Saleh Marke (APC- Dawakin-Tofa) at plenary, presided over by Speaker Hamisu Ibrahim-Chidari, on Monday.

Marke explained that a fire outbreak had razed houses leading to the death of one person at Dawaki Gabas.

He added that the inferno had rendered many people homeless, saying that there was need for the House standing committee on emergency relief to visit and assess the level of destruction.

In their contributions, members representing Kabo, Alhaji Ayuba Labaran (APC) and Alhaji Magaji Zarewa (APC-Rogo), said the provision of relief materials to the fire victims would ease their suffering.

They also called on the House standing committee on emergency relief and the state government to expedite action on the issue.

After deliberations by the lawmakers, the House unanimously adopted the motion and urged the state government to take the necessary action.

The House then mandated its standing committee on emergency relief to assess the level of damage and submit its report within one week, for further legislative action.
