The centre for information technology and development CITAD has called on Kano state Government to strictly monitor the activities of private schools operating in the state.
Zainab Aminu Gender programmes officer of the centre stated this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of report on gender based violence for the month of January .
Zainab Aminu said in order to monitor Hanifa’s memory the signing of the child rights act becomes necessary without further delay.
According to Zainab Aminu the centre further commended the Nigerian Police, Kano State command for successfully arresting the killer kidnapper.
CITAD also urges the state government to ensure that no stone is left unturned in preventing a future occurrence by establishing a child rescue center in the State.

The center further implores the public to sustain the outrage until justice is served to the fullest extent so there can be no more victims of wicked circumstances.
“To sum up, a cross-check of the outcome of the analysis with the outcry from the public indicates the need to firmly implement the Child Rights Act and VAPP policy and to monitor closely all relevant incoming information as concerns their impact on the medium-term outlook for a safer society for Children/Young girls.
We hereby recommend that the Kano State Government and House of Assembly should immediately and as a matter of urgency domesticate the Child Rights Act and VAPP Act at the state level. This will contribute in curbing this menace as perpetrators are being punished accordingly.
The state government should also adopt laws to protect women and girls, and as well establish Referral Centers and Forensic Centers for victims.
We would like to commend the efforts of our traditional and religious leader in intensifying their effort to create awareness against GBV.
While we continue to monitor, we will like to appeal to parents, relatives and others to always report cases to the various to either directly to us or to other sister NGOs as well as to government agencies such as NOA, NAPTIP or Hisbah. GBV strives when we all keep quiet. We cannot win the battle against it unless every perpetrator is brought to the books.

Zainab Aminu noted that from the January GBV report rape and online harassment has decreased by 7 percent while wife battery has also decreased.
But there is also an increase in sexual harassment among others.
