An investigation by the NIGERIAN TRACKER has shown that manufacturers in Kano are finding it difficult to get enough foreign exchange to buy raw materials for manufacturing of goods in Kano industries.

The chairman Kano Jigawa sector of manufacturers association of Nigeria Sani Husseini said one of the things that are giving them a sleepless night to buy raw materials is the foreign exchange.

He said dollar is now very scarce and it’s the citadel of buying raw materials and no one gets the dollar and it is very expensive in the black market

The MAN chairman in Kano added that when a manufacturer wants gets let’s say 100 thousand dollars to buy foreign exchange he now hardly gets 3 thousand dollars.

He added that another biggest problem threatening the remaining Kano industries is lack of power, he said they are paying much for  tariffs but the electricity is not enough to cater for their production and operate in full capacity.

According to Sani Hussein there are those paying KEDC five to ten million per month as electricity bills and they are not getting any profit hence the huge loss they incurred because KEDCO cannot provide the required power.
