The Resource center for human rights and education CHRICED has urged media personnel to become more interested in what happens to maternal and child healthcare projects in Kano state.

This was mentioned by the CHRICED Board Chair, Prof.  Momodu Kassim-Momodu during the one-day training of media and CSOs organized by CHRICED in Kano on Thursday, 5th August 2021.

He said that the training is one of the several activities designed to achieve the cardinal objectives of promoting Democratic participation in Gwale and Kumbotso local government areas of Kano state with a focus to reducing maternal and child mortality.

The training which includes capacity building and digital tools knowledge acquisition was aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare through accountability interventions in Kano state.

“CHRICED believes that with proper planning and management of health budgets and other extra-budgetary interventions targeting the health sector, a lot of difference will be made, in addition to saving lives of citizens.”

Prof. Momodu added that a vibrant media would contribute immensely to the realization of a truly democratic, accountable, and inclusive country.

“It is partly the role of the media and civil society to ensure the ordinary citizen is enlightened and involved in the governance process.”

He urged the trained media personnel and CSOs to take advantage of the tools and skills gathered at the training to give bigger mileage to their accountability reports.
