SUBEB Trains Teachers On Capacity Building

The Executive Chairman State Universal Basic  Education Board SUBEB Dr. Danlami Hayyo,  has said the Board would continue to partner with relevant organizations to train teachers to improve their capacity for effective service delivery.

 

Dr. Hayyo gave the assurance while addressing teachers during Jolly Phonics training organized by Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC, in partnership with the Board and Universal Learning Solutions held at SUBEB Conference hall.

Represented by the Board Secretary Alhaji Baffa Saleh, said the State Government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is giving top priority to the Education sector through the Construction of New Classrooms, provision of instructional materials, teacher training while sustaining teachers welfare among others.

 

He said the training was aimed at equipping teachers and dedicated SUBEB officials with skills on the teaching of literacy in Public Primary schools adding that a total of 2625 primary school teachers, as well as 50 officials, were selected from  44 Local Governments Areas of the state for the three-day training on literacy teaching practices called ‘Jolly Phonics’.

 

While thanking Kano State Government for supporting the Board the Executive Chairman charged the participants to make good use of the training advantage by replicating the skills they acquired to the pupils as part of justifying the huge amount spent on the training.

 

Speaking the SUBEB desk officer,  Mallam Nura Ibrahim said  Jolly Phonics is a fun and interactive teaching tool that uses the synthetic phonics literacy teaching methodology.

 

He added that Synthetic phonics is mandated or recommended by governments all over the world because its methodology quickly provides children with the skills needed to read and write.
