Kano Flag’s Off  Free Primary, Secondary   Medicare For Indigents Persons

Kano state government  last Thursday  flag off  the commencement of free primary and secondary   health care provisions for indigent persons in the state.

The Executive  Security, Kano state Contributory Heath Care  Scheme, KSCHCS , Dr Hailma Mohammed Mijinyawa, who superintend over the  commencement of the first phase enrolment exercise  disclosed that  79,000 beneficiaries  were been targeted.

Mijinyawa   in an interview with journalists at Muritala Muhammad Library,  venue of the enlistment exercise , she  noted that  those to be enrolled  into the  health largesse were drawn from all the 44 local government councils in the state.

According to her,  the wide spread  free  health care services at the expense of the state and federal government will cover  Persons With Disabilities, PWD,   sickle cell patients   and the wards  of  PWD’s.

Minjiywa  further hinted that the exercise is free, adding that  that those enlisted will have access to free  one year duration  of  primary and secondary medical  services without contributing the banal  requisite minimal 10 percent been levied on other  contributory health care scheme.

Enumerating the challenges  bothering the enrollment  exercise, Mijinyawa lamented that  mass number of the supposed beneficiaries do not possess the required  National Identification Number, NIN to access the programme ,   explaining that potential beneficiaries must be holders of  NIN.

She further decried that the failure by the earmarked prospective beneficiaries to  produce  their NIN has lead to technical hitches  that led to the delay that was recorded prior to the commencement of the programme.

Minjiyawa urged the beneficiaries to make appropriate  use of the health opportunity , disclosing that the state and federal government have invested hugely to cater for the health needs of the indigent persons through the execution of the  free health  programme .
