 Kano Legislators Promised to Pass Social Protection Bill

Kano State House of Assembly in North-Western Nigeria has promised to pass the much-awaited social protection Bill into law provided the stakeholders presented a working document before the Assembly.

 

The majority leader of the state Assembly Kabiru Hassan Dashi made the statement during a Parley with the representatives of the Action Against Hunger held on Wednesday at the state Assembly.

 

Kabiru Dashi said as legislators and who represent the people, its imperative for the Assembly to pass the Bill for the development of the Vulnerable in the society.

The Majority leader pointed out that what the assembly is currently waiting for is the working document from development partners so they can start working on it for the overall development of the people of Kano state.

He urged the representatives of the Action Against Hunger who are critical stakeholders in making social protection a reality to organize a retreat for the assembly members to be more conversant with the provisions of social protection.

In her reaction at the meeting, the Senior Programme manager Action Against Hunger and Child Development Programme Mrs Stella Esedume told the Assembly that what they are for is social protection noting that retreat for important stakeholders like the state Assembly is paramount and it is in the pipeline.

She also briefly informed the lawmakers on the importance of social protection and how it will benefit the vulnerable in Kano.

Mrs. Stella Esedume further thank the lawmakers for making the issue of social protection a great recognition
