Since the global outbreak of Covid19 pandemic, almost every hustled were paralysed and some were halted to the ground, sports activities were not an exception.
In March 2020 Nigerian Football caught-up to the rest of global sporting community is craving a four-week halt to football activities due to the ravaging pandemic, through the statement released by the NFF President Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick advising all members of the football family to observed the various safety precautions and strictly adhered to the advice given by the federal ministry of health and the NCDC.
The Statement further says the NFF shutdown all the football workouts and it would affect all on-field activities including NPFL and other leagues, the National Teams, Youth Football, programs and event, even the streets football game was included.
But as the case of the pandemic starts getting better, European Countries then starts lifting the ban gradually as Germany after almost a two-month break, the Bundesliga became the major league to resume despite many fans opposing the resumption.
However, Italian Seria A returns to life, after Italian Sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora gave the Italian governments approval for a restart on June 20th.
Likewise Laliga of Spain, France, and not only in Europe, Most African Countries start taking a step forward in calling back their football activities, for example, Tanzania, Tunisia, Morocco and even Algeria things are already back to normality.
I’m asking myself that WHEN DID THE AUTHORITIES IN MY DEAR COUNTRY NIGERIA would allow us back to playing field?
While we are witnessing various daily gatherings such as weddings, campaigns and elections?
Plus, it’s the time waiting for an affirmative answer, which is “YES” to our teeming youth and football spectators will jump back be at their playing fields again.
By all physical indications, this pandemic is almost overwhelmed to the floor flatly, as the mammoth crowd gathered during political rallies and campaigns in Edo State, I think, sporting activities deserve to be back in a full swing across the federation.
