Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will remain in London, United Kingdom for an additional week, according to a statement from his spokesperson Femi Adesina. The extension comes at the request of Buhari’s dentist, who has begun treating him.
The specialist has reportedly commenced a procedure on the President and needs to see him again in five days for a follow-up appointment.
President Buhari had initially traveled to London to attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023, alongside other world leaders. However, his stay has been extended due to the dental procedure.
President Muhammad Buhari is expected to handover the mantle of leadership on the 29 of May to President Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu on the expiration of his two term tenure of 8 years.
President Buhari is the second Nigerian after Olusegun Obasanjo to rule his country in a military and civilian regime.
