Regular exercising in children improves their immunity and reduces their vulnerability to obesity and other health conditions.
This was revealed by a Senior Physiotherapist with Physiotherapy Department of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Dr. Yakubu Abubakar, during an excursion visit by the students to the hospital.
He said physical activity reduces the risk of obesity which is known to the precursor of other conditions such as heart disease and high blood pressure.

He added that an active child has low risk of bones breakage as exercise strengthen bones as well as strengthen the quality of sleep and kids’ performance in school. It also makes them less likely to develop depression and better able to handle physical and emotional challenges.
Dr. Abubakar further mentioned that, banning playing television games and watching television for a specific period of time for children is imperative to enable them exercise their body fittingly.
He then called on parents to keep a close eye on the children to avoid any accident while carrying out the exercise.
Other places visited by the students were Ophthalmology Department and Chemical Pathology Unit.
