Sir. Kuli Kuli.

Northern Nigeria is now becoming the global headquarters of crimes, insecurity, sufferings and deaths. Even as the North controls the Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, Security and all Enforcement Components of Nigeria, we’re heading toward more doom at the verge of collapsing.

We are knowns to be very religious, cultured, masters in governance, technocrats, administrators, nation builders and one region that promote unity, sincerity, peace and most efficient leadership above any other section of Nigeria. All of a sudden, power politics and greed has eaten deep into our character and institutions, now ruining it all!. We’re gradually sliding from ‘Heroes’ to Zeros.

Let’s keep politics, affiliations and sentiments aside to analyze some hard facts: The President and Grand Commander of armed forces Muhammadu Buhari is from Katsina State of the North West. The Senate President and Commander of the Legislative proceedings is from Yobe State of the North East.

The Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives is from Plateau State of the North Central. 2/3rd of the 105 House Standing & Special committees are chaired by Northerners. Close to 2/3rd of the 69 Senate Standing Committees are Chaired by Northerners.

The Chief of Army Staff Lt Col. Tukur Buratai is from Borno State of the North East. The Chief of Air Staff and the commander-in-chief of Nigerian Air Force Saddiq Abubakar is from Bauchi State of the North East.

The National Security Adviser and Chief Counsellor on National Security matters Babagana Monguno is from Borno State of the North East. The DG DSS and Commander of experts against domestic threats Alh Yusuf Magaji Bichi is from Kano State of the North West.

The C. G of National Security and Civil Defence Corp Abdullahi G. Muhammad is from Niger State of the North Central. The C.G of Immigration Muhammad Babandede is from Jigawa State of the North West.

The Director of National Intelligence Agency Ahmad Rufa’i Abubakar is from Katsina State of the North West. The C. G of Customs Hamidu Ali is from Bauchi State of the North East.

The C.G of Prisons: Alh. Ja’afaru Ahmed is from Katsina State of the North West. Even the Commandant General of Vigilante Group of Nigeria Usman Muhammad Jahun is from Jigawa State of the North West.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Anticorruption and Financial crimes Sen. Sule Abdu Kwari is from Kaduna State of the North West. The Chairman Senate Committee on Army Sen. Ali Ndume is from Borno State of the North East.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Airforce Sen. Bala Ibn Na’ Allah is from Kebbi State of the North West. The Chairman Senate Committee on Defence Sen. Aliyu Wamakko is from Sokoto State of the North West

The Chairman Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence Sen Abdullahi Gobir is from Sokoto in North West. The Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs Sen. Dauda Jika is from Bauchi in North East.

The Chairman House Committee on National Security and Intelligence Hon. Sha’aban Sharada is from Kano State of the North West. The Chairman House Committee on Police Affairs Hon. Kumo Bello is from Gombe State of the North East.

The Chairman House Committee on Navy is Hon. Gagdi Yusuf from Plateau State of the North Central. The Chairman House Committee on Army Hon. Abdurrazak Namdas is from Adamawa State of the North West.

19 out of 36 State Governors are of Northern States. 2 Most Richest Governors are from the North. 5 out of 7 Most influential retired Generals alive are in the North. Some of the most richest Business men are Northerners. 2/3rd of the most sophisticated retired police and Military personnel alive are Northerners. The Chairman Security Council of the Nigerian Governors Forum is from the North. 14 out of 20 most influential traditional rulers are from the North.

Almost everything related to security and tendency to prosperity is with the North, now the world mock us, laugh at us and many celebrate that the ‘Sons of the North are shaming the North’. No matter how a Northerner try to defend Northerners in power, they must further disappoint the North with newer acts of shame and incompetence.

Do we need to remind ourselves that 24 Honorable Ministers out of the 44 Ministers in Nigeria are all from the North?. So far since 2015-2020, what substantial progress have we record?, from insecurity to poverty, unemployment to 9 Months strike, political impunity to sufferings, malnourishment to all forms of instability?.

The question is, how does a common man benefit from these positions?. Does the Security, Health, Education, Economy and necessity of the common men improved or devastate?. What positive impact have these ‘Northerners in officers’ made toward alleviating the humanitarian disaster facing the North?. Do they even talk, shake or go extra mile to ending our poverty, sufferings and deaths?.

Let’s ask ourselves: What is the Economic, political, social and grassroot value of appointments and mass number of positions held by Northerners to the North?. How sure are we that our so called ‘representatives’ are not a burden and liability to the North and the nation at large?. Only conscious Northerners can objectively understand that it is never about ‘brothers in power’ but ‘value added representation’!. We should be proud to be Northerners and Nigerians but never to be proud of these ‘Liabilities in office’.
