Why Nigerian Revolutionaries Ended as Resolutionaries

-Sir. Kuli Kuli.

-Nigeria has lots of committed youth that always love to change situations even through radical Activism,(Revolutionaries induced) but mostly at a point; they all end up as ‘resolutionaries instead of revolutionaries. We mostly forget that it is not about the radical mindset of the individual, it is about a collective pattern of thinking and behavior that changes society.

-Radical struggle or conscious activism(with Revolution in mind) is a good thing, in fact, it is the most salvaging effort to liberate a people, but before you insist on being a radical figure-head, kindly dig deep to understand the beginning and the end of the past Senior comrades, veteran strugglist, radical critiques and organic intellectuals that learn from the tradition of Frantz Fanon and Amilcar Cabral, most importantly, remember that you are in Nigeria!.

Prof Odinkalu @52: Garland for an unrepentant Human Rights Activist

-Those that have a history of successful radical struggle down to a finished line had a different country, with a different system and a different mentality of the people. The recklessness and clamp-down impunity of law enforcement agents especially if instructed by politicians,  is beyond description.

-Nigeria is a country with Criminogenic problems, with a history of crushing radical opposition(Revolution in mind) and rising political detention, intentional abnormalities, unwarranted arrest, reckless assassination, shameless impunity + disorganized & less conscious youths. In this part of the world, nobody cares about your rights or privileges, Constitutional recognition or moral ground, try do any “gra gra and see gra gra” claim for your right and receive slaps from the violators of your right + additional insults that’ll be coming from the “country pipu wey no dey support you”.

-A country where even the soldiers & the police are seen shooting themselves with no justification, officers can “Kidnaparrest” or kill an activist anytime, anywhere and anyhow, the people only supports you when you are pushing their interest, the media mostly care for money before “creating headlines” to rubbish your personality. How did Faruk Lawal ended, the moment you seem to be growing in Radical sense, be prepared to be intimidated and rubbished. This is the end stories of most of our activists!.

-There’s a very sensitive lesson to be learned from two Radical Activists: Adams Osho and Shehu Sani. One was a radical labor leader and the other was a radical human rights Activist. At a point, Osho and Shehu ended as a party chairman and a Senator.

This has proven that Nigeria will always frustrate your radical confrontations, either through opportunities or threats, which has killed many radical Activists. Those that died from Activism are forgotten today, the few that remembered them doesn’t support their family in any way.(what a futile Revolutionaries idea)

-A country that never mourns people’s death, a country that frustrated the likes of Dr. Yusuf Bala Usman, Gani Oyesola Fawehinmi, dismantled Ken Saro Wiwa and the Ogoni nine heroes, Comrade Chima Ubani, Bola Ige, Dele Giwa, etc and up to this day, nothing happen to their Killers. Look, radicalism in civilized places have public support, the youths stand by you, organizations funds you, billionaires and concerned citizens will always stand behind the advocates, but in Nigeria the reality is different.(Revolutionaries Inclusive)

-If you think you are born radical, then remember the likes of Prof Yolamu Barongo, Okot a P’itek, the veteran Pan Africanist Ocello Oculi, he likes of Yusuf Bangura, AB Zack Williams, radical scholars, like Dr. Patrick Wilmot, Ali Mazrui, etc, where are they today? Are we collectively working to uphold what they “radically worked” for? Or we are just hoping for a change without hard work?. There were “progressive minds” and what we are seeing today are “problematic minds”.

-From 1700 down to 1820 to the end of slavery, INDEPENDENCE in 1960 and down to post-independent struggles, there were radical defenders of the people, shining stars for radical consistency and total commitment to the struggle for the liberation of the ordinary people in the midst of bad governance. Since 1999, the return of a confused system of government called “Nigerian democracy” in politics have ensured that radicals don’t survive the push, making sure that their “fellow people” are brainwashed against them, with all kinds of threats and criminality over them.

-We need a patriotic, responsible, selfless, incorruptible, committed and courageous YOUTHS, not the class of youth filled with greed,  fear, envy, ignorance and blind love for money and politicians, if you are a radical Activist, you’ll notice that nobody wants to suffer or die with you but enjoin, anytime you are on a struggle, if you survive it they will hail you and if you suffer it or die, everyone will just pity you, while others mock you. In fact, those that struggle during the military regimes enjoy better cooperation, support, and solidarity than now that almost everyone is hungry for the political benefits.

-If things must change, then every one of the majority must be part of the struggle(Revolutionaries). Secondly, Radical or liberal Activism with a view to changing Nigeria requires the ardent involvement of every sector of the society,

because CHANGE is a collective project that is faced by all in order to promote moral, political, intellectual and socio-economic development. Hence, as individuals, organizations, groups, and communities, we must establish a participatory platform on social reorientation, reorganization, and collective hard work through which we can challenge, ask questions, contribute, and hold every leader accountable for their action for or against the society.
