ASUU lament non-payment of 5 months’ salary at UNM

The Academic staff union of Universities Universities (ASUU) University of Maiduguri Chapter has decried non-payment of a 5-month salary for its members in the university.

 

The Chairperson of ASUU University of Maiduguri Professor Dani Mamman stated this in a statement made available to newsmen including the Nigerian Tracker.

The statement reads as follows

FUD ranked No.1 University in Nigeria,21st in Africa – Scimago, Spain.

The executive committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the University of Maiduguri held and Interactive meeting with affected members on Wednesday 5th August 2020 and extensively discussed the non-payment of five and in some cases six months salaries despite the directive of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu  Buhari, GCFR in April 2020”

 

The meeting observed with grave concern that the University of Maiduguri and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUA)are the only Universities out of 43 Federal Universities in the country that are yet to be paid their five months salaries since February 2020.”

Professor Dani Mamman further calls on the AGF to immediately pay all outstanding salaries of the affected staff to avoid unpleasant consequences in the University of Maiduguri which should be avoided by all means.
