Breaking: Kano to Re-open Schools August 10

Kano State Government has approved the re-opening of state’s senior secondary schools from Monday, August 10th.

This was contained in a statement signed by Kano state commissioner of Education Sunusi Kiru .

The commissioner said the executive Governor of Kano state Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved  Monday 10th August 2020 as the resumption date for the senior secondary schools (SS3) students that are expected to write their west African Senior School Certificate Examination scheduled to commence from 17th of August.

According to Sunusi Kiru, the state Government has directed all principals and proprietors of public and private schools to note that they have only a week from Monday 3rd August 2020 to start preparation and put adequate measures against COVID 19.

The statement said the Kano state government has warned the schools not to re-open before the slated date of August 10th and all principals should ensure that working hours are reduced in the schools and including adherence to social distancing guidelines.

Towards Improving Girl Child Education In Nigeria

The State Government said the resumption dates for other examinations and for the rest of the classes including the SS1, SS2, and JSS 1-3 as well as Primary schools will be announced in due course.

The commissioner of education noted that that the state ministry of education is encouraging the e-learning education program using Google classrooms, radio and Television stations, and other online platforms until full normalcy is returned to the academic environment.

 

The commissioner also appreciated stakeholders like NGOs, parents Teachers associations, proprietors of private schools, old students association, and press for their continued support.
