NGO supports 109 orphans in Gombe

Women group in Kaltungo ,the Rahma Sisters Organization in Gombe state North-Eastern Nigeria has distributed clothes and food items to one hundred and nine orphans with the aim of putting a smile on their faces.

The Chief Imam of the College of Health Science Kaltungo Ustaz Abubakar Isa Kaltungo commended the group for the initiative, describing it as timely in view of the alarming increase of the number orphans and widows due to incessant killings and act of terrorism in the country.

He quoted several Qur’anic verses and tradition of the Holy Prophet on the importance of providing assistance or taking responsibility of orphans and vulnerable groups in the society, calling on the participant to also look on ways to teach them some skills so as to be self-reliant and contribute positively to the society.

While warning against diversion or mismanagement of orphan’s wealth, Ustaz Abubakar Isa described taking care of orphans as a collective responsibility of all which is a great act that leads one to paradise.

In their goodwill messages the Head of the Religious Studies Federal University of Kashere Dr. Yakubu Tahir Maigari, the Chairman Muslim Ummah FUK Dr. Usman Jibril Mikai’il, the Sarkin Malaman Kashere as well as the chairmen of JIBWIS Council of  Ulamas of Kaltungo and Billiri Local Government respectively all appreciated the group for the gesture.

Also In their separate comments the Magajin Garin Kaltungo Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Ibrahim and Dandarman Kaltungo Alh. Isma’il Muhammad pledged their support to the group and encouraged the orphans not to give up with their condition but instead try to meet up with the challenges of life so as to be productive.

Earlier the chairperson of the group Hajiya Fatima Ishaq who is the Principal of the College for Arabic and Islamic Studies (Higher Islam Kaltungo) and Dr. Habiba A. Usman of FUK  said the group was fully registered with relevant bodies and with the aim of impacting positively on the lives of the less privileged in the society.

They identified some activities of the group which includes assistance to needy, visitation to new converts and prison yards, sponsoring orphans and payment of school fees as well as the construction of Islamiyya schools and mosques and settlement of domestic dispute among couples.
